Rumors of a growing rift within the Hiigaran Navy?s Fleet Development Board climaxed today with the resignation of Siirh Manaan, commander of the Third Engineering Group. Siirh cited ?personal reasons? for his departure, but sources in the Admiralty pointed to a widening internal conflict over the Navy?s classified ?Project Londenium.?

Although the exact nature of Londenium may never be known, it has become a focal point of controversy between two opposing factions within the Fleet Development Board. Siirh Manaan was a member of the conservative Alt Schule, and sources indicate that he became increasingly dissatisfied with the focus of FDB projects over the past year. His opposition to Project Londenium was vigorous and stubborn.

Manaan?s departure weakens the Alt Schule?s influence within the Development Board. Although his replacement has not yet been officially announced, Jak'Phi Efan Tambuur of the Fourth Engineering Group is widely regarded as the best choice. A political moderate with friends in both FDB factions, Tambuur gained public fame for his role in modernizing the HGN?s frigate classes.

Analysts suggest that Manaan?s departure may further exacerbate, rather than dampen, the conflict between the Alt Schule and Jeune Ecole factions, with potential political ramifications for the upcoming Diamid elections as well as for the war effort at large.
