I can play against the AI on 6 players maps with large fleets and not experiance any serious lag. When I use the New Duel gametype the game becomes a slideshow. I even reduced the size of the map by half, changed the background, still I get lagged. Suggestions for resolving this? Or what might be causing it? |

It is exactly the same rule as the 'safe' deathmatch after the initial setup that is completely removed except for the tHGNShips and tVGRShips tables, which are not so big. So either perceived lag has something to do with smoking strange stuff while playing or you run HW2 on very low RAM or there is something that completely escapes me. To get rid of any ram issue, you can open the newduel.lua file and add: Code Download source tHGNShips = {}just after line 185 Rule_Remove("Rule_SpawnShips") Edited by Sun Tzu on 17-03-2007 09:26 |

It shouldn't be a RAM issue, I have 2gigs of pc3200. But I will do as you suggest. |

Yeah, tried that. I didn't notice any improvment. |

I discovered the problem. It seems my gfx card has a problem with HW2's specular mapping system. Setting the value setGlareIntensity(#.##) to zero was an easy enough fix. Hopefully others will find this usefull. |
