Hey everyone, I have been playing pds since v5 and am playing 7.3.1 right now. 7.3.2 seems a little buggy. Anyways, i was just wondering if theres any way to remove weapons from ships because at the moment the framerates commit suicide as soon a fight breaks out and its kinda annoying to be quite frank. Ive tried down the unit caps and such and it helps but it pretty obvious that my cpu doesn't appreciate the sheer amounts of weapon fire on screen. |

You can remove weapons but that will ruin the gameplay. A way to reduce lag is to put the hw2.log in the gamedir\bin to read only. What is your PC configuration ? |

I agree removing weapons will upset gameplay but im running out of options. Out of curiosity, how does making the log file read only improve performance? My pc is a dell dimension5100 2.8ghz P4 7600gs i put in 1gb ddr2 i might upgrade to 2 gbs in the next month or so. I usually run the game at 1280x1024 will all details on except shadows. |

I have a have 5200 fx and 512 mb ddr 400. I can run the game mostly smooth on full detail with shadows for 1 v 1 until have way through the battle ![]() Pipe down some of the detail and you should be just fine. |

Normaly when you play the game the engine writes down everything you do in the log which causes lag. If you put the hw2.log on read-only the game won't do. I have 2.8 ghz P4 and 256 mb DDR and I can play 1v1 at 1024x768 at full detail including shadows with minimal lag (if any). So you should be fine. |
