Old version- help?
catbarf
Hi, I've come back to my board game of PDS, and while the board game is based on v7.1, I'd like to add some older, less advanced ships. I came across these pages:
http://www.penguin-mayhem.net/pds/shipguide/hgn/shiplist.htm
http://www.penguin-mayhem.net/pds/shipguide/vgr/shiplist.htm
and I was wondering which version these are, so I can take screenshots of the ships I need. I suppose I could try to get away with using other ships for the pictures, but there are some it doesn't work for (like the Monitor). So, what version is it?

The ships in that thing are all from versions 4.0 through 6.1, adding too it with more recent hulls wouldn't hurt though.

Let me see...

The Blade Mk. 21 looks the same as the 22.

The Kharakian fighter mentioned is none other than the first incarnation of the Avenger (I did dig the name "Shiri" I must say)

The Lothringen is the Ion Cannon Frigate (Firelance Mk. 2) with various secondary weapons

The Hydrashark II Assault Gun uses the linear accelerator of the Lothringen to accelerate a hypervelocity, extreme-caliber slug, and I think had less secondary armaments.

Bloodhound I Escort Frigate (a personal favorite!) was the flak frigate without any subsystems, and was one of the first ships armed with anti-missile weaponry (its plasma flares).

Monitor Defense Platform was a resource controller refitted with automated systems and weapons. Crafty little thing, but sacrificed its dock points.

Arbiter Lineships (I and II) were old-world wall ships that had resilience and dependable main weapons. The Mark I is what you see in vanilla HW2. The Mark II had a multi-barrel plasma bomb "cannonade," ventral MRAM tubes, and a pair of twin ion cannon mounts (87mm). I used to love shoving these guys into little scenarios, just to show that we still love them and that they are still viable (yet fairly inflexible) combatants.

Harbringer DDX was its own special ship, based on the Arbiter hull, but with advanced weapons. I think you can still find it on the mission with the Foundry, but I could be wrong (more likely in 6.1), and this is probably the way to go to get a picture of it.

Princes of Hiigara and Defiance IIA all use the Battlecruiser hull.

Callisto AxCP was an auxiliary, or secondary, warship based on the hull of the Bishop Transport. Instead of people and logistics, it was packed to the gills with medium mass driver ammunition. This ship was very much a strike craft support/defense artillery ship, and has no current incarnation (aside from in M1, if you count an Armed Merchant Transport as a sister to the Callisto), but oh how I miss it.

Battlestar BBHX was a design project whose goal was to achieve a mothership-class purebred combatant, whose primary armament the Araelian Defender now enjoys (along with massive 800+mm ion cannons). Although the hull has been christened for the Majiirian, the lengthy task of outfitting such a ship is yet to be completed.

Falconder CVD (Or FVD) was a heavy frigate/light destroyer that was one end result of the projects involved with replicating Progenitor technology. It was able to construct a small variety of strike craft, could hold a few squadrons, and jump independently. Its advanced armor, based on the original, gives the little carrier thick skin, while both innate and modular weapons give it a bite that burns against other frigates of its time. A later ship was designed on this hull, using advanced Progenitor-based power supplies, but the idea was abandoned (*sulk*).

Auvarnagal BB is to the Al-Khalid BV as the Prince of Hiigara BC is to the Defiance BV. Its the second generation battleship that was truly terrifying, with its direct reactor plasma beam.

Light Assault Craft is currently at large using the alias "Pioneer".

The rest, you should be familiar with. Any questions?

If nothing else Thorin I am impressed with your wealth of knowledge on the varied ships of the varied incantation of PDS. Grin

Despite what I said earlier about my knowledge of current goings-on, I do remember choice bits.

I still wish we could get that Blade Mk. 23. Who was going to make that? Maybe I'll bug them again.

Well, what version is it? I really would like to get pictures of the ships that aren't in the new versions, and I can't use new models for (Arbiters I and II, Monitor, etc.).

That should have the ships you need.

Thorin, Sadly we have been in hard times as far as shipwrights are concerned. Sun Tzu has taken on the mantle as an aside effort, working some of the Taiidan ships. The fellows working on them at Relic Forum have not been heard from in several months, despite bumps and PM.

The Taiidan ships? Aside from the eventual new hull of the Qarinah Battle Frigate, I'm unaware of such ships.
