Ship weapons loadout
gpuebla
Hi All

I?m new here and I just downloaded PDC v7.3.1. Looks great. I am however a little lost. While I perfectly understand the whole concept I am a little lost with regards to the weapons used by all the ships.

On the Build menue where I have a brief description on the ships, and their use there is a list of weapons the ship has but I don't quiet understand the shorthand. What is a RG? a PIC? etc

example a 3x 120 mm RG

seems to me a triple 120 mm turret/weapon mount or 3 120mm single weapon mount but what does the RG stand for? the same goes for the other weapon types

Also which weapons are offensive and which ones are defensive (CIWS or anti-missile systems)?

I've been looking at the treads but I haven't found a list where this is explained.

Thanks All!!

just remembering off the top of my head:

RG - rail gun

PIC - pulse ion cannon

ICA (AIC) - ion cannon, assault

PC - plasma cannon

Any others?

Actually i have a question on how the weapons even work.

For example the Arbiter CGE has a PI module on its hull, but i would move it basically right next to a enemy cap ship and it would never fire. Same thing with the Laxamana and its those SRAC. Do these weapons only work under certain conditions?

Okay thanks. Am I safe in assuming that the smaller size weapons are balistic CIWS? Also are there anti-missile/aircracft missles like present day Patriot or See Sparrow missles?

RG45s and such are the equivalent of CIWS 20-35mm cannon, while 100-150mm weapons are meant as sci-fi versions of naval DP armament.

Missiles take second place in the present battlespace but used to be extremely potent (now they are barrage-fire implements). I do have a plan to streamline the weapons design part of PDS, this is partly implemented in the experimental developments up to UE. They are more to the specification of realism (heavy anti starship missile hit on destroyer = dead, if it passes through CIWS/countermissile fire and evasive maneuvering).

But I need motivation to continue my leisure work, here.
