Sub-Commander Sheriv Khariiv rocked slightly in his chair at the head of the full conference table as he digested the information floating in the center of that table. The most senior missileer, aside from his default by being Tactical Officer, had the hologram displaying a peculiar missile with labels and descriptions floating about it. Floating above were the words ?Medium Range Hypervelocity Attack Missile (MRAM2).? ?So, Lieutenant S?jet,? Sheriv began carefully, ?what you are saying is that?these new generation inertial dampeners reduce the missile?s apparent mass a factor of ten, thus allowing its drive to accelerate it that much faster?? ?That?s correct, Sir.? Sheriv mused some, stroking his close-cropped beard. He did the math in his head, and recalled the interesting yet decidedly inefficient way he had used the new weapon system in their initial shakedown like regular MRAMs. Then he remembered that he had only a limited time in this briefing room, and had other things to cover. ?All right. Thank you, S?jet and company, for preparing this information on the MRAM2 for me. I will have further discussion on it with the Lieutenant later. For now, I am sad to say that the Arbiter 1J stations had unsatisfactory response to my commands,? he glanced at a very slender man whose expression barely showed how he dreaded this part of the debriefing. ?Lieutenant Somtaaw, I accept the fact that the Vaygr over-armed corvettes we faced in the mock battle are more maneuverable, and much smaller, than frigates?? Khariiv turned a page of hardcopy in the direction of his officers in a figurative manner, as to drive his point home. And drive home it did, as the junior officer winced and squirmed a little. ?But, I?m afraid, 23.5% just doesn?t cut it. I highly advise that you log in at least 5 hours of sims a night.? As the man bowed his head, Khariiv smiled softly and added, ?Mijaarn, I know you can get this. So do it and prove me right.? The lieutenant smiled a little and lifted his head. The moment passed, and the meeting continued in a routine fashion for the next half hour before the meeting adjourned. ---------------------------- Go ahead and post, guys. |
