I am curious if anyone had intent to try to work with Dei on his marvelous Taiidan ship efforts. I realize we appear to be short of the requisite personnel with the talents needed to do the hodding and other needed bits for the ships. I was hoping that we had a lead on the folks to overcome this deficiency. |

As with all future possibilities in this realm it is up to you to make it happen. Otherwise don't talk if you don't want to make the effort to organise and execute Dei's ship import project - what do you think I've been doing here for the past 2+ years? Collaboration on this note is definitely something that will benefit the HW2 community as a whole due to demand for such vessels. |

I certainly concur, but I've not got the hang of texturing. Meh, it can wait in any case; there is much yet to be done. If nothing else, could you let me know if there are any particular modifications for PDS specific versions that you'd like me to model before hand? Oh, my aching head...

Well OGL, I certainly understand that... having been with this for the duration. I will certainly be about it to find some assistance in the modelling of the ships, however as you are aware the full development of the ships and implimentation into the mod are well beyond my non-existent computer skills. I will be happy to go recruiting, but there will need to be another drill sergeant to wip the effort into proper form. |

Well I like it. Think that the little antenna on the pods are a bit much (for a model in the game), but other than that not a bad fighter class with lots of room for specialized equipment for varied missions. Now back on topic. Anyone out there know of a model guru to assist in the further development of Dei's ships? Tel any objection to seeing if the Dust War team has done any work they would share? I have downloaded the .rar files if anyone wants to take a shot. Edited by yasotay on 03-05-2006 03:13 |

You're welcome to project the good image of the Crown by any means necessary (rofl). If there is enough interest the Imperial Taiidani order of battle can be outsourced to community construction in V9.0. |

Holy Damn is that cool! That is proffessionally done and would be perfect for some kind of heavy patcom or destroyer-cruiser hybrid. Wait wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. We've been through this before. You all remember the Vanaar-jet incedent? 'Cause I don't. You also remember that much of the Imperial fleet is made up of older, Homeworld war/Beast war era ships with an assortment of newfangled CIWS. We need old stuff too. |

With the lack of a over-done field-refit style ship loadout system with mad wardogs making fat gunships out of the smallest frigates we should be able to integrate EE's models with minimal modification. Ships however should have the following weaponry types as standard: Primary Secondary (vs frigates, if cruiser or larger) Assault missile (SRAM launchers, optional but highly desirable) CIWS (anti missile laser hardpoints ala hull defense hardpoints and a pair of multirole medium massdrivers highly desirable ala modern DP guns on warships) |

The Vanaar - Jet is already in the PDS file cabniet. Somewhere I have E-E's mini-mod and the .rar for the Vanaar as well. However as Iron has alluded to a previous attempt to integrate the Vanaar into PDS was not completed due to... artisitic differences. If memory serves, while E-E was willing to allow the Vanaar, he insisted on some rather 'over the top' weapons. Sadly for those of us who had looked forward to the introduction we could understand Tel's decision to not introduce an Uberweapon. The Taiidan light cruiser above has been done in very high poly count (obviously) and I do not know if E-E has done a version for HW2. Tel has given us clearance to pursue further the development of a Taiidan fleet. Perhaps someone might see if E-E has changed his position on his ships. It won't be me as last time I tried the fellow was less than polite. I think Mr.Who tried as well. The results appear to be in the post above mine. As much as I like E-E's work, it might be easier for us to find someone to assist in the development of Dei's ships. Thoughts? Edited by yasotay on 06-05-2006 17:16 |

Well, I'll give E-E a shot, maybe we'll come up with something. Poor guy is so busy with all those other mods he's in, he may not even have the time to do much...but I'll see. I like the way that light cruiser is built. It has a balance of primary and secondary weapons, and probably only needs laser defenses and missile launchers. |

"Over the top" right now is the Hiigaran Independence/Ferin Sha Battlestar and her vast complement of strategic torpedoes, attack drones, and enough heavy laser power to annihilate a task force. Same for my new mount the General Contact Vehicle (do-everything command ship) Hajjah Piramesse with her 6 heavy particle lances. So weapon power isn't the issue. I will however flatly refuse any attempt to introduce such as "Dark Matter" weapons technology into our nicely streamlined technical base. For advanced weapons we will rely on SSNT's judgement and vast array of practical scientific knowledge. No exceptions here I'm afraid, so the VJ is out of the acquisition loop. |

That is the unfortunate part of all this. A VJ based ship as a "Space Superioriy" platform (analogous to the battleship race of the late 19th and early twentieth century) would, I think, fit marvelously into the premise of V.9 as I understand it. However the 'dark matter projectors' make it a non-starter. |
