The Eastern Front (AI +2-3 yr)
TelQuessir
Background:

The present strategic outlook of the South-Eastern Front involves a general stalemate between the Hiigaran Navy and the remnants of the Vagyr Loyalist clans. Due to its relatively small size, the IVF is not capable of much strategic-level expansion and with our Karelian Campaign we can surmise that HGN-IVF relations would probably be that of "honored enemies".

The IVF occupation of Nalthoran territory poses a diplomatic nightmare in itself given the survival of a significant portion of the Nalthoran civil and military population thanks to crash-build programs for armed interstellar liners which had evacuated Nalthorans to Hiigaran space and subsequently functioned as admirable survey battlecruisers attached to the HGN.

In order to break the stalemate and rescue the fledging Loyalist forces from eventual doom at the hands of the Hiigaran Navy, the resurgent Imperial Taiidani will supply both warfighting aids and direct military support to the Loyalists, with the end result of gaining significant strength themselves - enough to make them as large as a threat to Hiigara as they were before as an expansionist interstellar empire, if not moreso thanks to sharing of information between Loyalists and Imperials, and the rapid progress of both civil and military technology in this most recent conflict.

A direct assault on Hiigara would be costly and possibly ineffective against the best of the Navy's warfighting capability, but the Hiigaran Republic's vassal states and protectorates are defended only by second rate forces backed by a small number of first-rate Hiigaran warships.

The key for the Loyalist/Imperial alliance is to draw the HGN into a general engagement all across the South-Eastern Front, sucking them into a war of attrition and prolonging the conflict for as long as possible.. while the Imperial Navy flanks the Republic and takes out a large portion of her supporting powers and off-world industrial capacity by the elimination of both Cush and Levii vassal factions.

This will catch the Hiigaran Navy in a two-frontal war it cannot afford to wage.

Thus, if all goes according to this theory, the Vagyr civilisation would serve as a mere instrument in the resurgence of the Taiidani Second Empire... and by then the barbarians would be too weak to turn against their masters.

nice
sounds like your regular steller work. this would also push new ships to the war front with more "progn" stuff on them

Mwahahahaha...umh...emh ITN (I hope that this tag will be official)
need a strong leader, someone who will lead them, and lead them smart... new Emperor.

Looking backward we can say that Taiidans are the only good guys in HW (well they was't first who bombed an enemy homeworld Wink )

BTW I wonder if Norsehound would do something with Vanaar-Jet.

I say you need to look farther WHO, they are far from innocent.

Anyways, I'd like to point out that in the recent years, the Loyalists have been in a state of technological research. It was written somewhere but I'll leave that out, basically they have been trying to match Republic with technology rather then numbers.

Hopefully, this means that the Taiidani fleet shall be somewhat smaller but more effective then the Hiigaran fleet.

Interesting - and it makes me wonder.

Did the Imperial Taiidani simply see an opportunity for a resurgence after the Invasion?

Or was the entire invasion - Makaan, the 'miraculously discovered' Vaygr Core, the sudden unification of the Vaygr - masterminded by the Taiidani? A colossal setup to weaken the Hiigaarans and their vassals - and to quell the threat of the Vaygr at the same time?

"This is tactical control..."

Looking at some of the grand plots I've seen in the various novels whose content I devoured, it isn't far fetched and is more realistic than a nomadic culture suddenly deciding to shed all tradition and assume the role of mindless conquerors.

Plus, I want to highlight that the Vagyr warship design in the stock HW2 game is very out of character for a spaceborne nomadic population, where the ships that sustain them will be very valuable assets indeed.

I also want to highlight the fact that it is far-fetched for a relatively mature spacefaring civilisation to go on some adventure en masse with one self-appointed grand admiral.

So eliminate the Loyalist factions (which is NOT the entire Vagyr population) and bring out the real villian, I say!

With barbarian cultures (Vaygr, Mongols, Huns) the impetus for their expansion was twofold; an enemy which was both wealthy, and vulnerable. Once they began to expan and assimilate the culture they had conquered, their aforementioned impetus for expansion deflated. They became wealthy themselves, and with the spread of the military across vast tracts of land, became vulnerable.

With this in mind it's entirely sensible that the vaygr have no real reason to expand since compared to the years before the invasion they are wealthier and weaker.

Indeed true, I had surmised as such that the independent (note, nomadic traditionalists) factions of the Vagyr civilisation are simply flourishing in the wake of the Loyalists.

So Makaan did provide the Vagyr as a whole with some service, if his character has more intellect that your typical video game villian he would not have bitten off more than he could chew (reference to Japanese in WW2).

As such the balance of power in the Vagyr theatre of operations will shift rapidly to the formal IVF organisation and with the elimination of the Loyalists which are already fighting a 2 or even 3 frontal war if the Elyssians were sided with the Hiigarans, it would, be in a very far off future become a full scale Second Empire vs Hiigaran Republic affair. Which, IMO is plainly boring.

For now, we don't really have to concern ourselves with this. We will be doing decentralised taskgroup operations (hence going for multi role battle-carriers instead of battleships) for a very long time in the present Post-Invasion situation, better to document what we have in the present because right now the possibilities for development are endless.
