Well i tried the PDS 6.0 mod, and it's a great mod. The v8 should be better again, but i've no time to try it now. I found that all ship have permanent defence field to protect themselves. It is quite logic as in every SF films ships have def. field for main protection, then the hull when shield is down. I'd like to know which lines have been added to make it possible. I have a big file extractor, and play whit the overridebigfile switch on the homeworld2.exe shortcut. I've spotted this line in every *.ship files : addAbility(NewShipType,"DefenseFieldAbility",0,1,3250,4000,4000,-1,0.1,0.6,"none" ) i want to add this features to over mods i have, but just adding this line to the *.ship file seems not work. I also wonder what the number in this line mean, as i guess the 3250 is the strength, because larger ship have larger value. Please, can someone help me ? Big thanks, and have a good game ! I think what you want is both addShield and defensefieldshield ability. Tel can tell more about how it works, I think he posted on this on the relic boards. And you can find the description of all arguments of ny and all abilities at the wiki: http://hw2.tproc.org/wiki/KarosGraveyard Edited by Sun Tzu on 18-03-2006 15:45 |

Actually, addShield is the required piece of work for system integrity, AKA the emp shield. |

Thanks for the answer ! Well, at the wiki, i found descripton about addability and addshield. These 2 lines are required in the *.ship file in order to have a permanent force field on a vessel. addAbility(NewShipType,"DefenseFieldAbility",1,1,420,4000,4000,-1,0.1,0.6,"none" ) addShield(NewShipType,"EMP",6000,20 ) the first number : 1 'is this ability active by default (yes) the 2nd : 1 'is the forcefield is turned on by default (yes) 420 : radius of force field 6000 : forcefield strenght I tried this on a little destroyer and it's works, but there is a problem : The shield stop almost every shot (good) but don't take any damage (not good), so my ship is almost invulnerable. I can see a blue bar under the green one for hull. I guess it's for the shield, but the blue bar never decrease. Someone got an idea ? Thanks |

The blue bar is, iirc, the "system integrity" bar. If the ship gets hit too many times too quickly, the ship "freezes" for a rondom amount of time.

Well in fact the "blue line" i speak about is not the system intergrity of the ship. I make some combat with EMP weapons and i can see the "system integrity line" which show up. And when the ship is disabled, the forcefield is still active at 100%. What i lack is something to tell the game to damage the shield when under fire, then disable it when destroyed. PS : Quote I think he posted on this on the relic boards What is the relic boards ? Edited by General_Sauzer on 19-03-2006 17:01 |
