This vessel designated by Hiigaran Naval Intelligence as the "Qwaar-Jet Evolved" is a last minute addition to the Vagyr (Loyalists) order of battle in PDS v7. Click for screenshots. It had been pointed out by the PDS writers' guild that the name "Qwaar Jet" is indeed a Fleet Intelligence designation for the pre-Exodus era Imperial Taiidani heavy cruiser - not unlike "Flanker" for the Russian Su-27 aircraft. Al-Mou'akar means "The Venerable One" in English, which I find to be a fitting name given the original Qwaar-Jet's reputation over millenia of spacefaring history. Credits go to ONLINEMERC who is our resident Arabic language specialist. Hiigaran Naval Intelligence will still relate to the Al-Mou'akar as the "QJE", and the native Taiidani designation is yet to be created. This vessel will replace the older Titan/Auvarnagal class battleship in the Military Fleet, while the IVF do not have access to the ship's blueprints - we can assume that the first batches of hulls sent to the followers of Makaan are Taiidani-built. I like this thing a lot, especially the forward turrets. Of course it should present an even greater challenge for Hiigaran ship crews who attempt to engage her. Won't be quite as easy to get clear of the main battery (assuming that it's following the pattern of previous Vagyr Super-Caps). What sort of armaments does it pack, or are you leaving that a secret until v7 is released? If the fireball can't be seen from orbit you obviously aren't trying hard enough.
There is no 'overkill' only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload'. -Schlock Mercenary |

The ship is approximately half the length of the Titan class battleship but has almost identical displacement, so is much more maneuverable due to the superior mass distribution. The same can be said of survivability - its much better protected than the Titan which just appears to be larger. Thus, you may see the difference between the VMF's early forays into battleship design, and one that is forged through centuries of combat experience coupled to modern technology. As for weapon systems I heard she has quad heavy gun turrets, expansive hull-integral missile armament and four of the new lithium-ion cannons. This indigenous Vagyr development is less capable than the Hiigaran particle beam weapons which were reversed engineered from, but boasts higher range, reduced cost of operation/manufacturing, and best of all, is capable of long-duration firing, making it a very good heavy support weapon. This also means that the QJE's combat capability will result from the fine intermeshing of various weapon systems, and not a "big beam of doom". |

actually Valaraukar i added them on a whim in the last week or so of texturing ? actualy im making a quick vaygr stealth fighter but if the alloy wheel idea proves popular itll be done - oh and england just won the cricket - yay

Well, the QJE has significantly less blind spots than the ToF, and has superior armor. It would take a pretty coordinated attack to take this ship down without bringing in capital ships twice its size. This is the sort of ship that I would classify as a BL. |

As for combating the ship, it is quite easily done. A "pocket battleship" like this cannot stand up to a real deal 1km class bruiser and she in the v7.0 order of battle has similar offensive capability but superior maneuverability and protection to the Sorceress III battle carrier, which now has three shipboard bomb pumped laser systems and a pair of quad LPC400s. The QJE is presently vulnerable to attack by ICA armed corvettes, and to counter this weakness I will outfit her with pulse-lithium ion cannons on the defensive hardpoints as well as deploy the anti-missile grid. |
