Berthing, Docking, and Latching
Thorin
Well, I was thinking that we were leaning away from production...so I was thinking that Mobile Shipyards could undertake a new profession of repairing larger vessels.

Carriers are just too small to service friagtes effectively, so I was thinking that enabling severely damaged frigates to dock with a mobile shipyard would be quite advantageous. As well, using the capital ship subsystem as an attachment point for capital ships in need of extensive repairs.

Shock!!! That was an idea I had for the CXX Vaygr carreir. It was more so in the though of a module and that the ship would be underenath it since I was going to be giving it a large berth/docking facility located on it's underside.

But more to the point, I can see the vaygr shipyard having the space, but the Higariian one seems a little too thin for the job.

The module grabs onto the ship to hook the capital ship's damage control systems up to the shipyard. Then, tiny service craft swarm around the ship to accelerate repairs and replace the skin of the hull.

You could just simply dock them, as in entering the shiphold (which just requires adding a candock ability to the ship).

I think exposure would add an element of realism and danger. You might not always have the combat space inside a ship, not to mention if the ship was going down, you would lose the ships docked inside.
