Recently I stumbled across a list of HW2 command line parameters and two of those attracted my interest: -noFilter which disables the game's Bi-linear Filtering and -noSmooth which disables the Polygon Smoothing. So far both seem to be working, and whilst they don't increase performance that much, I still recieved a minor boost. If your'e a person like me, who thinks that every lil' bit o' performance counts, (because you dream of running a 4-Player game of PDS with 25 FPS :sigh: ) then you might try this out. |

I just run the game from the sensors manager most of the time :bigrazz: Not that the fireworks aren't pretty but... |

Running the whole battle from the sensors manager is the key to missions like M03 and M05 on low-spec machines. It also gives better awareness of a larger scale engagement than the 3D view. |

Sure thing, but sometimes one wants to see the pretty fireworks up-close, and when that happens one propably wants to do that with a decent framerate, unless he/she is a fan of slideshows. I'm not disagreeing on what you said, I spend most of the time in the sensors manager anyway, but it's those few times when I just want to watch the fighting fleets, dancing beams, suicidal interceptors, etc. up close. FYI: I managed to squeeze out two additional average fps with help of those parameters. (In maxed fleet engagements it just was even up to 3 more average fps. Bilinear filtering doesn't make much of a difference in HW2 anyway, same goes for poly smoothing. Doesn't hurt anyone to try it out if he/she enjoys watching the eye candy but has a low spec machine like me. On better machines there propably won't be any difference, at least no clearly visible one. |

Good observations, I will try it out when able. If anyone else gets to it - I'd like AARs... |

These command-line tweaks (like the AI-aggressiveness option and the above performance savers) should be centralized in a single thread. In fact, I'll start it myself when I get the chance. "This is tactical control..."
