I looked for a solution where we could scrap the panel to Your left (Forum Threads) and instead have a panel with similar solution on the very top of the Forum Index Page. This has been attempted early on on this CMS, but was removed in favour of better News exposure. Examples: - http://arsenal.conram.com - www.hwaccess.net/forum/ The Arsenal example is only relevant for layout example. Its implementation bulids on the fact that on that site, the News page is not the default entrance page, but the Forum page is. The HWACCESS example is modified code, one line only, added to existing forum/index.php code. Since our forum index page is not very lengthy (15 subs) I think this could be a relevant solution. Input? EDIT: Present side-panel can be kept. Edited by Homdax on 24-10-2005 21:17 |

Looks like a good thing to do, though part of me is arguing to keep the side panel anyways. I often shoot my eyes right to after loading up the site. I also like how it's always there on all pages.

Hmmm. I really depend on glancing to the left on several of the sites I go to, and here it helps to just middle-mouse-click all of those links and view them. Kinda weird, but I still prefer this method. XD

If you can keep the news as the frontpage on this site, and include the new panel in the forums, do so. Replacing the news page - no way. |

Implemented. I lack the Title Field though (Blue background with text on top of all tables) but it is not essential. Looking in to add the Database Get to present more than 5 result, but there is no 5 in the code ( :rol: ) so I had to ask for help. FYI, this could be easily implemented on top of ALL Forum Views. But maybe it would be too much...? |

I like how the top view thing has the my recent posts/ threads links... but I miss the side panel, the top panel only has one thread per subforum. The forum threads top panel should stay though, for the reason it carriers one thread per subforum, and it should stay just on the page it's on. Though extending it to the subforums might be okay. But bring back the side panel, it was extemely helpful and I already miss it.... ![]() ![]() Bring it on. I've mastered multiple forms of Pink! [small]Zenprime is dead. Well no |

Aye. Top panel should be there only on main forum view, and the side bar should always be there.

On the other hand, if a user wants to view anything related to forum posts - hit the forum button above. The present implementation frees some some clutter on the left hand column and allows for greater priority to the articles listing. |

Article subpanel should stay high, stuff the forum subpanel under it. And can the poll panel be collapsed till we have a new one?

I will look in to how to alter the "new" forum views panel to show more threads. On the other hand, I think it will, as it is, show all newer in relation to Your last login, thus not only one from each sub forum. It does not show "none", obviously, given the case that nothing was added since Your last login. Yes, verified just as I write, I can see 2 new instances posted in my absence, at Port of Nalthor.
