First, this is the third concept for a PDS mini-campaign. Second, this concept is a productive one and will lead to the other two mini-campaigns being completed. Consider this a flanking maneuver for writers' block on the other two campaigns, the House Mar'yan one and the "Birth of the Titan" series of convoy protection missions. Right, on to the fluff: Background The "PS" campaign revolves around a Al-Mou'akar class cruiser hull 'purchased' by an Armada de Makaan unit which intends to experiment with the new class and develop an indigenous Vagyr version of it. This hull is minimally equipped besides the propulsion and navigation systems and does not have a Taiidani "commissar" unit onboard unlike the completed and fully armed "QJE" type ships deployed to assist the Loyalist Vagyr military. Daniel Hawking, my accomplice in this project will supply more information by roleplay. Present Situation The Scharnhorst has transited successfully two Loyalist controlled space, and is 250 light years away from its final destination, a Loyalist proving ground and shipyard facility for experimental ships. The ship is presently taking on supplies from a deep space replenishment facility and is accompanied by a Kaghan class fleet carrier along with an escort taskgroup. All seems peaceful, but little do they know that they have been tracked through hyperspace by a Hiigaran special operations cruiser... Gameplay The Scharnhorst is minimally armed. Over the course of the campaign you will be in charge of fighting the ship and her fighter complement, and additionally will be overseeing the development of a brand new class of warship never seen before in the Vagyr Reaches. The Scharnhorst will be fully customisable and the player will have the option of outfitting her to the full potential and versatility of the Al-Mou'akar class chassis. This mini-campaign will also feature specialised scenarios where the player commands the Scharnhorst's fighter squadron from a flotilla leader. Some of the Scharnhorst's fighters may carry attack drones... Edited by TelQuessir on 14-10-2005 01:09 |

Now quick message to other potential scenario suggestions-now this is a good proposed idea, good enough background and reasoning to warrent taking military action and having a scenario based on it. More pls...

...yeah forgot about that. Panzerschiffe is the plural. Gah. Don't worry, if all goes well then it's the Scharnhorst being hunted by Exeter and York, which mean two completely different things - Exeter being "large, grand, and sandy-brown" and York being "swift, majestic, and hazy-blue". Refrain from making any further comments unless it is truly beneficial to the topic. As such, what do you have to say about this combat action, other than the fact that you're British? As for this campaign - under construction . A starlight sharpshot magical girl!

:topic: HMS Exeter(68): "The fourth and best known HMS Exeter (68), was a County-class heavy cruiser that served in World War II... She was launched on 18 July 1929 and was sunk on 1 May 1942 by gunfire and a torpedo from the destroyer Ikazuchi." HMS York: "HMS York (D98), launched 1982, is a Type 42 destroyer serving as of 2004 with the Third Destroyer Squadron at Portsmouth." And as Tel' said: Exeter - PoH York - LiirHra. Just noting a coincidence. :topic: |

First, to introduce myself. I am new to the forums, but have played PDS for a few months now. Took a look at the community you have here and decided I would like to join in. What an excellent idea, Tel! Why not add customizable cruisers to the HGN/VGR lineup in multiplayer/deathmatch? You could configure them for what you needed at that stage in the game - be it a mobile point defense installation, missile cruiser, heavy bombardment vessel, or a balance of the three - to make things more interesting. Add BB RU costs and a high tech level to make it difficult to create for balance; the nature of the three classes of weaponry would handle the rest of the balance issues. Lean too heavily on missles and vessels with lots of point defense could swat its fullisade with little difficulty, etc. You could leave the preset ships alone for players less inclined to customize a ship/new players/players with low RUs. It would be a purely RP option. Thanks in advance for the feedback, and apologies if this is not the proper forum for that kind of suggestion. It seemed to fit with the scenario. |

You don't send ships into combat in duel scenarios like that at all. This idea fell through a couple months ago. A starlight sharpshot magical girl!

Makaze - mission configured ships are already go for PDS V9, infact V9 is wholly based on this concept. You have short range assault, general purpose tactical, strategic missile, escort carrier etc etc variants for EACH ship class. It is actually easy to plan orders of battle this way, since game balancing is now role based, with everyone bringing to the field common types of main weaponry (respective to ship size and engine power of course). |

Thank you. I have not had the time to look at the new 9.0 releases, so I didn't know that it was already implemented. |
