Imperial Taiidan Command and organisation??
mrWHO
Anyone who have good writing skill (I talk about you Norsehound) and know fleet organisation of many navies, could you create a fiction about post invasion Imperial organisation.
-chain of command
-fleet organisation
-general combat doctrine (agressive, defensive etc.)
-any more important stuff.

Basically I think that ITN (Imperial Taiidan Navy) is similar to pre -Ironships Royal Navy: modern command and combat style mixed with old fashion commanders that were chosen from noble families like lords, royal family.
This means that they have very skilled personel (with few exptions like Emperor Riesstiu IV) but not even as half as HGN (still they are better organised that Armada).

So what is you opinion??

Well, you might want to take some lessons from teh Romans or Byzantines. That is who I believe the Taiidan should be influenced by.

I heard that Romans had balista and catapult like things on their ships while Byzantines had flame thrower thing. This would mean that Taiidan ship should rely on High tech stuff and perfect discipline of the crew.

if you are basing them on the Romans you might want to consider that the Romans did what they did very well (the Infantrymen and to a lesser extent, siege weaponry), but looked to subject peoples within the nation for things that they did not do so well at. Roman cavalry for example was usually from cultures that were extremely good horsemen.

Of course then that would mean - as an analogy - that the Taiidani navy would be operating without many segments of their op groups at full strength - or skill.

I would be thinking that the Navy would be arranged in a very hierarchial manner - think Star Wars Imperial Navy - as that is the simplest way to keep a huge force under any level of control. So iron discipline and an almost instinctive recognition and reaction to another person's rank.

Uh....I think you are thinking of Greek Fire. Emphasis on Greek.

I agree Fu on most of his points. However, I think that it would be the crew that would include the peoples from subject cultures. Integration on that level is much easier than integrating foreign ships with separate logistical needs and crew organization.

Fu makes a good point but I would argue that the ImpTaii could infact mirror the Roman behavior very easily. Instead of expertise of Infantry, the Taiidan as a space faring race would be the experts of fleet operations. As fleet operations is a more hi-tech affair (and likely to remain so) it would attract a more elitist class to it as a profession.

In keeping with the Roman method, once the fleet has achieved dominance of the space over a given system, they give the the inhabitiant the offer, submit or be bombed into the stone age. Of course the Emperor took it to the ultimate with planet burning (still a rather Roman thing to do).

Once the Imperial Taiidan subdue the planet they would hire on locals they subvert to run the place, with a Taiidan governor to make sure the Imperial policiies are correctly administered.

Certainly over time, elements of the subjugated populations who become trusted would be integrated into the fleet and might even have opportunity to rise in rank, although I doubt the elite of Taiidan would tolerate full priveledge.

Any way the ImpTaii of my fiction operate in this fashion, while the few remaining Republican's, hiding from the Vaygr are busy haggling over remaining hidden or taking the fight to the enemy.

I am thinking of a plot. I could answer this question soon.

Of course, you have to take into account the zampolit (political officer) on board the new QJE ships...
