I know that there is a dev discussion about low CPU usage version of PDS. I like that idea coz I have a low end PC (Athlon 1.6+, 758 DDRam, GeForce3 Ti200 64mb, Win XP). I'm planning to do some upgrades but I heard that people with PC twice as powerful as mine have same rate of FPS. Ideas: - "fire mode specialisation"- for exapmle, no fightercannons shooting to battleship armour. There is no use of low caliber weapons to shoot at heavy ships, no dammage, much lag. Same things with heavy railguns and heavy beams shooting at fighters, there isn't much chance to hit fighter with it so why shooting ?? -smaller lifetime for kinetic weapons - this is mainly for missfire shots that tend to fly through whole screen befor dissapear. Why not to sett them to disspear after traveling through 1/4 of screen? same eyecandy little less lag. I know that that those ideas won't reduce PDS lag much (maybe 0.5-1FPS) but few (dozens) of such ideas would make PDS run much faster. |

Not much, but here's my two cents. Faster explosion time possibly and maybe reducing the frames needed in an explosion (probably make it choppy but the small ones from a shot hitting the hull wont really be noticed). |
