With introduction of Marquess-B and Tel idea about moving LirHraa to Destroyers(Fleet Cruisers) caplimit, I thought that It would be nice to redefine caplimits. I think that it isn't good when you have to choose between Avengers and Thunderbolts IV or Kites and Hawks. Here it is: HGN: --SC-- (16) 8 x Fighters (Scouts,Blades,LSF) 4 x Bombers (Thunderbolts I, Thunderbolts IV) 4 x Heavy fighters (Avengers) --CT-- (16) 8 x Corvettes (Gunships, Khopesh,Lavi) 4 x Light Drones (Kites) 4 x Combat Drones (Hawks) --FF--(21) 4 x Heavy Frigates (Cezador DD) 2 x Flotilla Leaders (Tulwar, Linebreaker) 8 x Combat Frigates (Hydra IV, Bloodhound II) 7 x Escort Frigates (Herald,Nightgale,Resolution) --Capitals-- (10) 1 x Super Heavy (Deliverance,Iskandar Shah,Arelian Defender) 1 x Heavy (PoH,Majestic) 1 x Aux Carrier (Arcadia) 1 x Combat Support (Escort Arbiter, Marquess-A) 3 x Fleet Carriers (Imperator IV, MArquess-B ) 3 x Line Combatants (Arbiter IV, LirHraa Block 16) --Platforms-- (12) Vaygrs: --SC-- (16) 10 x Light/Medium (LAC,Saracen) 6 x Heavy (HAC A,HAC B,HAC G) --CT--(10) 1 x Flotilla Leader (Sahamshir F,Subasi) 6 x Medium/Heavy (Gunships, Shamshirs) 3 x Advance (Failaka) --FF-- (22+ 4 infilator) 2 x Flotilla Leader 4 x Chevalier Destroyer 4 x Infilator 8 x Support (Asnaar,Merkavah) 8 x Battle (Spahi,Quarinah) --Capital--(11) 1 x Flotilla Leader (Kalifah) 3 x Medium (Achamendes) 1 x Super Heavy (Al-khalid) 1 x Strike Carrier (Sorceress, Hand of Winter) 3 x Carriers (Kaghan) 2 x Heavy (Nancy Arjam,QJE,Black Rose(IVF) ) --Platforms--(12) Edited by mrWHO on 04-10-2005 18:49 |

The light end of the cap limit, fighters, bombers, etc are't much of an issue. Diverse strike groups are available within current cap limits there. But with the introduction of the new capital ships, I find myself sticking with the tried and true rather than adding one of the newer hulls to my order of battle.

That is the correct way to imagine the unitcaps - there is the option to involve allied vessels in the order of battle, if desired. |

The new cap limits sound good. Alot more variaty available that way. It also makes you plan ahead. Having BB punch is great, but do you need a BB or BCH or a Battle Carrier? Its all about unit balance...only its not an artificially developed balance, its a balance born of your tactics and the resources available. If you favor swarm tactics, you arn't going to want a bunch of line ships that are too slow to get out of harms way...by the same logic, if you like standoff combat, you are going to focus on artillary platforms (BBs and BCHs) with strike craft in a defensive/protective role. And if your opponant knows how to expolit the flaws in your stratagy, how are you going to balance it out? Wash - "This is going to get pretty interesting"
Mal - "Define Interesting" Wash - "Oh god, oh god, we're all going to die?" Still flying! |

The above proposal doesn't change much from the existing unitcaps settings. You'll have to justify the effort taken to ensure AI workability in skirmish. Which is at best, a hit or miss affair for me, and requires over 50 hours of testing to get right. |

Like tweaking the unitcaps to make sure there is balance btween the two sides, and balance within the fleet itself. |

Once I upgrade from my GeForce4 GTS 64MB graphics card, I will officially co-sponsor upping cap limits. Until then I will continue pausing every time I need to deploy... |
