First of all gongratulations for your job - its definetely one of the best mods
out there regardless of game and actually makes the game the way it should be... also excuse me for my bad written english since i'm from greece. So i need help how the various commands behave during battle - i'm confused what i should do while commanding a cap ship and whether i should use the waypoint command, the attack move etc? example :
in a duel between the vaygr bc - and a hilgaran one should i order it to attack directly? should i move-attack? should i let it wait and move it when the other bc comes near and battle commences? i read the article (the pdf one) but it wasn't clear to me regarding this issue. for example during the battle mentioned above the issuing a waypoint command during battle is going to make the cruiser turn its back to the enemy effectively not using its main front ion guns... so move-attacking doesn't enable the pds in cap ships and only waypoint commands do?
hope u understood what i was trying to explain and once more thank you
pds team for making me no to need ANY other game anymore...Smile

That article was not clear on that, because it assumes You know it already.
Seems to me You need to read in a bit in the HW2 manual.
Then experiment on the implementation in PDS.

NOTE:
I have unlocked this after a PM, and it may be relevant information to fresh arrivals to the PDS'verse.

Ok username changed to a more suitable one don't u think?

Also from your reply i found out that u did not understand my thread probably because of my poorly written language
I''ll try to put it as simple as i can:
Of course i know how the various tactics function and i also know how the various commands function during normal-unmodded gameplay function but searching the forums (penguin-mayhem/pds also) i found out that in pds mod ordering a ship to attack directly makes its point defense systems attack it too instead of focusing on incoming missiles and strikecraft.
So i asked more info on this and specifically if the move-attack makes point defense to act this way too.
As for the waypoint command, if u read the hilgaran navy manual, you will find out that players are encouraged , during battle, to use this command instead of directly right clicking an enemy ship because it's supposed make the point defenses work as they should because of '' a hardcoded engine quirk'' that prevents the direct right click-attack command to enable the pds.
But if u do battle ,for instance in starship duels, u will find out that waypointing back for example is gonna make your ship turn its back although the pds functions normal and unlike the moving it back ''while enganging'' where it normally continues to train its primary gun toward the enemy and backstepping THOUGH in this case the point defenses DO NOT(?) function normal.

Also thanks again for your time and your effort in mantaining this forum - it's really awesome for an awesome mod and special thanks to homeboy for opening again my thread Smile

Moving to General since it involves Gameplay.

ok my last effort :
TAKEN FROM FAQ posted by relaxation:
---------------------------------------------------
Q: How do you shoot down missiles?
A: Don't right-click the ship that you're attacking, just hit the F4 button. The ship will automatically turn to attack. If you directly right click an attack on an enemy ship, your vessel's point defense will fail to function as it will concentrate all firepower on your ordered target. You'll notice that when you were right-click attacking, there were some nonfunctional weapons mounts. Those are anti-missile weapons (or you were out of range.). They'll turn and attack missiles while the main batteries attack the enemy ships.

Q: Suppose i have an arbiter and i battle three Frigates A,B,C. How do i attack Frigate B and still have my PDS fully functional? Also move-attacking near them does leave the pds functional? (until now i did this: i set the destroyer on F4, moved-attack near the enemy, battle commences but if i find out that i need to target a specific enemy ship i right-click it (PDS DONT WORK) and after that directly i issue a "move" command so it can enable it (PDS WORK?)- is this correct? IWS

Methuselah
That's correct. Se tthe destroyer to aggressive tactics, then use the move function to position it where you need it to engage the enemy. Once you order it to target a specific vessel, its hull defense guns will be focused on knocking out its target.

So fly your anti missile pickets back and forth using Waypoint assignment.

If they're guarding a slower ship simply zigzag them so the movement rate is fixed.
