I've already done some background fluff in the Turanic Raiders which syncs up well with what is purposed here. Shall we work together on this, G? The only issue I see outside of obtaining and .HODding the ship models is the fact that the Raiders don't like the Vaygr (though they're on good terms with the Taiidan, as always) and don't have the resources to go up against the HGN like they used to. The Beast war and invasion of Elyassia in the 180-270 Barrier region took a heavy toll and the intervining years only brought constant conflict with rival pirate groups, police forces, and emerging governments. This can be resolved if the Raiders were to ally with the Corsairs (another large, organised Piratic kingdom previously in a state of conflict with the Raiders) which could result in a very formidible, if 3rd world, offensive force. |

Relaxation, I think we should have a IM meeting or something to coordinate efforts. 20-21 GMT is a good moment for us European or in the week-ends. As an update: I have found that the only reason the AI hyperspaces only battlecruisers is that Relic made a special code for hgn_battlecruiser and vgr_battlecruiser. This sounds fairly stupid but so far any of my tries (including classifying other ships as battlecruisers and give them the same hyperspace abilities and combat value as a battlecruisers) have failed. So I'm forced back to heavy scripting to make assault group exit hyperspace at aggressive locations. Consequently I'll pack a 7.3.1 without a survivor gamerule, which will be for next steps. I'm targeting next monday. I have tested the idea to remove target searching for all missile weapons and it looks like the game is more fluid during battles, without any noticeable modification to gameplay. I will include that modification in 7.3.1, knowing it can be reversed if necessary. |

*kicks Rel* What do you expect, its that time of the month. I got the 'package' but the computer decided to take a vacation. Probably will get the thing running again on Monday. If my squire brings the winXP CD XD |

Absolutely agree on reducing missile lifespans and getting rid of retargeting, now that I've actually read the half-drow's input . The massed fire concepts of First Era as stated above, don't require it. |

I can't upload the whole 7.3.1 on Filefront at the moment. In the meantime, I attach the first complete SP scenario (to be put in data:leveldata/campaign/tutorial). It has three random slightly different tunings for AI, to increase replay value. I hope it will test your tactical skills. Don't hesitate to give ideas about how other ways to play for the computer.

Simply amazing, the level of professionalism never ceases to astound me. Keep up the great work ![]() I haven't finished M01 yet, but it seems much much more managable this time around than the previous incarnations of this mission. Haven't quite had a chance to play through the new M02 yet, but after sitting through the opening of the mission, it looks like a real hoot. |

I downloaded this last night, and I too must say this is amazing. I especially like that new carrier model for vygrrrrrr (can't spell lol). Not to mention the scenarios... wow those have pretty cool intro and it looks more professional than some of the game I pay for! |

M01 is a great scenario. I am sure that the current script does not exploit all the possibilities of Tel's map. Don't expect too much from M02 at this stage. The mission is playable but not 100% finished. I need to work on the freighters' and escorts' behavior, and possibly mission objectives as well to add some variety and 'realism'. right something is confusing me about the installation, sry if this is a n00b question. I have the folder /PDSv731data/(all the data contents) do I extract it as that folder name or just extract the contents of that folder to /(homeworld folder)/data? The instructions in this htread don't make it clear. |

The contents of the PDSv731data folder must be put in your HW2 data folder (cleaned up from any other non-Relic files).

Hey everyone. I've been playing PDS for a while now, and I must say things have come a long way from the wee days when all it did was extra pds guns to the vaygr ships. Anyways, 7.3.1 is absolutely phenomenol. The little things in it come together quite excellently as a whole. Just to be nitpicky, there is one little quirk i noticed. Ever since the HGN Longinus assault frigate was added, its description kinda flows into its weapon damage values when selected. Any idea how this can be fixed? Also, the Vaygr seem a little underpowered in the sense that the HGN and the HGNS can hyperspace in massive super capitals pretty much minutes into the game where the Vaygr is still completely dependant on the shipyrad. Also, the HGN/HGNS avengers and the VMS/IVF Failaka seem overpowered. Specially the Failakas. 5 squadrons can annihilate a fleet carrier in one run . Its immense fun to watch it though . |

At the risk of sounding exceedingly dumb (which I am) regarding the installation of 7.3.1, I have downloaded both 7.3 and 7.3.1.rar files, but have no idea what to do with them. Alas coming from the age of black and white TV (no, rocks and sticks and animal pelts had gone out of style by then), my knowledge of software is indeed from the stone-age. I was wondering if there was a plan to build the zip files of old that I did understand? If not... could someone take pity on the elderly and explain how to make it so I can enjoy Sun Tzu's goodness? |

Yasotay: 7.3.1 rar is self sufficient. First unzip it; you'll have a pds731data (or similarly named, I can't remember) folder. Then make a clear instal of HW2 (no third party file or from other PDS versions). Then put the contents of the pds731data folder into the HW2 data folder. Launch HW2 with the commandline -overrideBigFile and you should be fine. I must have written down three or four times at various places not to forget to place a readme file into the rar file but it somehow slips out of my mind every time. Sorry. raj18: You're right about the frigate description. It will be fixed in the next release. For your info, it is extremely easy to do: a simple edit of the Newshiptype.description in the marinefrigate.ship file with a text editor. I noticed incidentally that the description of the frigate has not been updated with the Longinus upgrade. I am the guilty party, but if I'd like to put this update on Relaxation's agenda since he's the father of that baby ![]() Last, we need to do something about the infiltrator frigates. Compared to the Longinus, they look like they've been designed by the red cross. Edited by Sun Tzu on 17-09-2006 19:35 |

yup i see where the description is, but i dont know what u want to change it to, so i'll leave it for now. lmao, the red cross. I agree the infiltrators are a bit underpowered. Here are my thoughts on this. The vaygr race by default have ships that are a bit more specialized than the Higaarans. An excellent example n my opinion is their battleship. The Al-Khalid is made purely to lay the smackdown on those innocent little shipyards and carriers, basically anything that doesn't move too much considering its primary weapon is its spinal mounted one. On the other hand look at the Deliverence/PoH class of the Hiigarans. They are almost made as 'multirole' battleships/carriers as they are much more effective at swatting those frigates. My point i guess is to leave the infiltrator as is for the most part as far as firepower is concerned. I suggest adding speed and manueravability (spelling?) along with a healthy dose of armor. Let it be as a specialized boarding craft. Disable those big boys with Failakas or Ansaars and then speed a couple of these guys in to ruin someones day. Edited by raj18 on 17-09-2006 20:16 |

maneouvrability it is. well heres something else i was thinking about. The Hiigaran's ability to hyperspace in cap ships may not be too unbalanced actually. One of the Hiigaraan's major weakness is that most, actually all, of their super caps have weapons that are subsystems. The Arbiter cruisers and the Islander shah are prime examples of this. Specially the islander shah; once a couple of HACs disable those three big mothers on the top, a Nancy Ajram can easily wipe the floor with it. Same with Arelian Defender and the PoH class. The Deliverence is the only one that can actually pose a serious threat due to its overwhelming number of ICAs. Thats when those Failakas and Irish Tels come in handy. A few HVRs up its #$^ and then you can have fun picking it apart with your ship of choice. I prefer the Al Khalid . |
