Yes, run through the site themes ane propose to him what bkg matches which banner. Select the theme via profiles. |

Heh, easier than that. More like what them do you want the banner to match. Here's what can be altered in the pictures; -The planets -Text colours -The circuitry colours (shapes as well if need be) -Colour of the sun -Fear the Might of the Imperial Cortharian Fleet

This is a really neat idea for a banner. And very interesting discussion as well, might I add. Anyway, I would just like to coment that I think it would be neat to have a changing banner, that on each reload or jump around the site the banner would change. I've seen it done, and I suppose it would not be too difficult, but then again, I am not proficient with coding and other computer programing and such. I bring this up because there was a concern earlier that people visiting need to see what this entire project is about. Why not make several banners that detail aspects of what we do here? All of these would require the PDS/NGCS titles, but they would help users get to know the mission better and develope role play ideas for guests as they explore our pages for the first time. Just a suggestion, so don't eat me, por favor :muffy: You can fly, you can fight, and you can crow.

Here is a suggestion, have a default banner (the old one or something) and then just have an option inside each persons account to select which banner they want to see. |

Sorry. No can do, Warman. Not with my coding abilities anyway... What Tel said. Matching pairs! Neix, I have exactly that on my main site, www.hwaccess.net. I only run ONE theme on that site, though. It can be adapted for several themes, provided they are not too different in code layout. Basically same work as for one banner, since it is little difference to paste in a javascript include and a fixed banner link. Ok, You want me to patch up Azara with this image and the others with respective named themes. OK, see if I can give it a shot tomorrow. I would however suggest COMPLETELY DIFFERENT banners as well for this usage.

And it might be better for you and/or us if you list which themes you want to have a matching banners. (and I can use any of the 3 planets) -Fear the Might of the Imperial Cortharian Fleet

Itharu... I will implement some or all of of that, but I am also considering having some theme with the old banner, or a remake based on it. My "vision" of this is: many themes share same banner, but some themes may have something completely different as banner. king-o'da'bigfile

I must say, the current banner is horrendous. The text is hard to read, the random anime and mideval pictures make absolutley no sense, and what kind of egotisical mod developer puts a picture of themselves at the top of the site? I like homeboy's designs better because they focus on the actual mod, yet all of them are a bit too busy. I don't mean to be rude, but I was shocked after visiting this site in a long time at the new banner. I think I shall submit a design just for the heck of it. It's really quite rough, but why not have something a bit like this?  Less cluttered, easier to read, and simple. |

I do like this style of less stuff on the banner better. Perhaps have the schematic of a battle ship and then have a bunch of lines coming off leading to unreadable text so its like they are detailing the systems. I would like the focus on one powerful ship, but smaller ships like frigates would be neato too.

I will say it's good to see a different opinion and design submitted, you don't present it in a tactful or diplomatic sense. As was stated, the creator of current banner, had ideas and exicuted them to the best of their abilites, then asked for assistance in refinement. I asked if I could take expressed ideas and reforge them into something visually stronger (ergo all my submitted banners going through about 9 versions). You come out of the wood work that is members who rarely speak make a big crit and then post some lesser thought out banner. For starters, you've got joints where you overlayed the line tool. A problem that is easily correctable. Usage of text could have been better though out, specifically in the areas of font and colour. It's a sharp font that doesnt' allow for visual flow, coupled with a bright colour (or tone) that negates the colour of everything else around it. Furthermore it hurts to look at it. I'm serious, I find myself turned away from looking at it. As for the pictures of the frigates, poor choice in enlarging them. You're not using a source pic, but on that's set to a resolution of 72dpi, which is a no-no in design usage. The source desert planet I use in my banner is something like 1500x1500 @ 300 dpi, excellent for elarging or in my case reduction, leading to a nice crisp image. If you're interested in seeing what a true minimalist banner would look like, just ask and i'll be happy to produce a proto-type. -Fear the Might of the Imperial Cortharian Fleet

Simplicity aint bad. Check out this banner I (YES ME!) made for my site. I like it more and more for everytime I see it...  More variation is good, but guys remember that You must list a theme that You think Your banner will look good with. Itharu has done that, and so must the rest of You. That is an order. Final word is given by Tel'Quessir or the person he appoints. I just code it in. I do not take it upon myself to be a graphical judge on Your site, even if I host it. king-o'da'bigfile

UPDATE 1. Go in to your Profile 2. Switch to Azara Theme ("default" will show Talisman theme) 3. Look, maybe You need to update the site (F5). Itharu: If you look closely You will see that Your original banner has been resized to 940 pixels wide and 183 pixels heigth. That is because the Azara theme table borders has more padding (space) to left and right. I have not looked in to background colour or anything. This is just a first go at it. View is optimized for 1024 pixels width. Comments? king-o'da'bigfile
