That new banner contraption.

Posts: 363 Joined: September 23 2005	Alright I know I'm just a tad behind with these, but for good reason! (aka reformatting, aka class portfolios due.....) Anyways, I just need suggestions for colours of the PDS text, the NGCS text and the vector dividers. I chose those colours more so out of random than anything, so any suggestions on them are welcomed. Itharu attached the following image: -Fear the Might of the Imperial Cortharian Fleet

Posts: 2598 Joined: August 30 2005	Can't beat 1970s styling. Suggestion to reduce center clutter - remove the text boxes. They don't do much. Instead have some tiny unreadable text boxes above or next to the ship icons to give a sense of a schematic style display.

Posts: 47 Joined: December 29 2005	I like that bottom one, but not without a few gripes. I think substituting the schematics for an actual ship flying in the background would be preferrable. The font is almost there... And erhaps incorporating the text in the middle into a background fade instead might look better.

The best way to get them is to have a nice neutral light and have them aginst a pure black or pure white background. And then there's the camera angle requirements. It's not easy getting a screen shot to fit into a picture, but it is easier to make a picture from a screen shot since there are more things that can be controlled. You've got some good ideas there, why not form them into another banner? -Fear the Might of the Imperial Cortharian Fleet

You've got some good ideas there, why not form them into another banner? I'd love to do it myself (I used to make banners and the like a few years ago), but I don't have the resources. It shouldn't be too hard to produce a screen shot to your liking, all it takes is firing up the game and trying to produce some dramatic stills.

Posts: 2598 Joined: August 30 2005	Much better! Now the "text" looks integral to the background like an overlay. Now, make it less symmetrical by say, removing the bottom text (blue text looks fine) or putting less red text so it's less cluttered below.

Posts: 388 Joined: September 08 2005	If you're using photoshop (and the crests are on different layers than the background), go to their layer and right click it. Go to blending options and set multiply, that should help I think.

Posts: 363 Joined: September 23 2005	Well this was a fun excersise in repeated modification. On it's won this has spawned about 7 different banners in 'completed' form. Not to mention that there is the alternative planet that can be used as well, doubling that number. So if you want a banner for each theme php theme, it's possible (not to mention the colours can easily be altered) @ Inert, having the mostly white crests on a black background, limits the choices I have to changing the layer setting.
