Greetings everyone! My name is Josh, I live in colorado springs, been married for 5 years, have a son who is turning 5 this weekend. Currently work for a microchip manufactering company(ATMEL). I hope to be working for Intel in the next few weeks. I have been following this mod for about a year(4.8~4.9n). I've just been lurking of the forums all this time, I absolutly love rts games. With my favorites being the Homeworld series, closely followed by a tie between Dawn of war and Starcraft. Now that the website has moved, I plan on revving up my partisipation in the forums and this mod in general. |

I am the Archangel of Death. Ionfish (an admin on the relicforums, that makes him a big fish right? ) thinks my name is silly, he should be happy I am a rather patient person. I am at least 13,000 years old as of January 1, 2002 on your time scale. I am in fact older than that, but cannot ascertain beyond that due to a self-inflicted memory wipe with the following tag: "Irreparable mental damage after extinguishing all life". Yes, I was in fact created for a sole purpose, to end things.I would like you to know that, despite my lack of free time (as I currently spend most of my days fleeing the recurrence of my fate), this production does please me. I will pick up new versions whenever time allows for use of such. Peace out! ![]() Ok, you can call me Arch, you won't be getting my name. I will slyly hide my age by changing my birthdate in user cp whenever it comes near. I'm sure you can guess by this that it is infact inaccurate 99.726% of the time on average (assuming a purely random system and sufficient events to guarantee acceptable values). I do like PDS, which for Homeworld mods ties with Warlords. For mods in general, I'd have to pimp one I've begun coordinating myself (http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewt...php?t=2194, but I didn't say that) so I shan't (shan't aint a word). Not that it necessarily is better than PDS, just that its mine(-ish. Its turned into a bit of someone elses work reborn [yes, permission] and will evolve to a state of Battletech near perfection). I WANT TO CONSCRIPT YOU *gets dragged off by several burly, suit-wearing men* |

I have returned... Returned to the place I know, and welcome... Greetings, you may know me as Rift, or Rift Tlosam, a scenario designer who has disappeared for some time from the FDB, and PDS in general. I'm proud to announce that I'm finally back, albeit with a tighter schedual than I'd prefer. As for details to my long absence, long story short, my windows partion was more or less wiped of everything from HW, and most of the operating system itself, leaving me at a loss. After I finally manage to return everything to normal, I expect to be able to once again, begin to work on scenario designs, and a few other projects around here. As for a blurb on myself, I am currently a high-school student, age of 16 years. I'm thus located within Canada, Ontario, 'nuff said. I am a creative writer/ concept writer, and have art and music as a hobby, which lead to my trip to England, and other interesting places. I also happen to have a passion for strategy games, such as HW, and it is that which lead to my developement of scenarios. - - - - - IC My name, as far as you would have it, is of no importance... 'Rift' will suffice. I have been part of the Hiigaran fleet intelligence for many years now, especially due to the on-going war with the Vaygr. My specific duty is to take intelligence, and devise battle strategies from it, even though it is up to the skill and leadership of the fleets to see it through. Furthermore, I create simulations for the captains and their crew to run through, testing their abilities, and teaching them how to react, preventing loss of life due to carelessness. My time has been taken up severely nowadays, what with the recent increase in Vaygr activity, but I still find time to practice an out of date mode of warfare: That of the sword. I still prefer the cold feeling of the hilt of a gun to a sword, for with a gun, you have distance, which a sword, sadly, lacks. Rift Tlosam, FDB Tactical Battle Planner, out. |

I'm a 23 year old masters student at Cornell University. I have experience in the computer graphics industry, and I also worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on the Mars Exploration Rover Mission. I'm checking out PDS and I'm looking at the possibility of enhancing the AI through use of bidirectional auctioning for distributed agent task and allocation. There's a large body of research out there I"m looking to draw on, and I have enough familiarity with Lua to implement just about any algorithm necessary. It is my hope to use PDS as a laboratory for collaboration between multiple agents, and how to create simple, effective rules for this collaboration in a military context. This could be very useful for exploration-oriented robotics, and of course autonomous fighting vehicles. I should also mention I've been quite a fan of David Weber's books for the last six years (I have a few signed copies at home), and I'm interested in that type of tactical thinking. I'm working on my masters in Computer Science but I have a bachelors in Physics and would also be willing to help review technologies for reasonability (or at least sanity-check them against the current state of theoretical physics). I suppose on that note it should be known that FTL travel completely breaks Special Relativity so I'm not sure how important it is to have everything be terribly reasonable (FTL travel is equivilent to time travel in a different reference frame, and breaks causality). I'm fairly busy this school year so I"m not sure how long it will take me to come up with something worth contributing, but I will spend some of my "thought time" analyzing possible solutions to the AI problems... If nothing else it should be an interesting experiment. Edited by JustinWick on 24-09-2005 02:32 ===================================

Wow, an adaptive AI? Now that would be something to put PDS on the next level! No FTL!! Great next thing your gonna tell me is that there are eleven dimensions and the potential for an infinite number of universes. ![]() No, no don't start. I'm an ol' crayon carrying air cavalryman. My newly minted 14 year old started trying to explain that dimension stuff and something about strings! Welcome aboard Justin. An Rift, where the heck have you been. ![]() |

After a long chat with TelQuessir, I am going to continue to post to the forums as my main capacity of Science/Tech Nazi. TQ explained that he would like the following: 1. Combat that is functionally equivilent to modern combat, but in 3D. So everything should have pretty much the same strategic implications as modern technology, but with a Sci-Fi edge. 2. Realistic science. Given that there's FTL travel (which breaks most of modern physics), I am attempting to construct technological implementations of the modern combat model, in essance to explain how combat in the future directly correlates to combat of modern day. Instead of relying on Star Trek style technobabble, I will rely as much as possible on modern theoretical physics and mathematics, constructing plausible technologies with the least element of magic involved. As for my AI work, I'm going to work on a generic AI to benefit the entire community. There may be some PDS specific stuff in it, but it will NOT be distributed with PDS, and is not technically part of the project. TelQuessir stated that he firmly believes that the current AI is good enough, and while I disagree with this statement (I don't think any AI that you can beat on a perfectly equal playing field to be "good enough") better AI is unnecessary to fulfill his vision for his project. I would, however like to take suggestions from individuals about what they would like to see in an AI (PM me or whatever... maybe a kind soul would give me my own thread about this). If my posts are too long for the ADD among us, I'm sorry, I guess I always tend to get into the meaty details of whatever I discuss. As is frequent in science and technology, it is the details that make the difference between something being correct and utterly wrong. If there's anywhere else on the forums I can be of assistance, please let me know. I'm a pretty busy guy, but I enjoy speculating about future technologies, extrapolating from my physics/CS background to see the future. I'm Methuselah. Sometimes known as Meth, sometimes known as Thuse (FOO-ss). When I'm not appalled by how low my framerate goes with FRAPs on, I live to make HW2 videos the hard way. I also enjoy reading, writing, and sleeping. And almost every subgenre of heavy metal that you can think of. |

G'day Fellas! I'm Mike from Adelaide, South Australia ("You mean Australia has other cities beside Sydney?" )I'm 26 and operate a production company, Flaming Rabbit Media Productions. Mainly dealing with boring as batshit corporate videos atm, but gathering resources and personnel to start making short films next year (script ideas always welcome!!!! Anything you got is welcome in fact, even more B as BS corporate films). I love military history and sci-fi (strange how they often coincide ) When I get around to it, I'm going to buy HW2 for the Mac and then add PDS, so I can unleash my G5 dual 2.5 processor with a GF6800 and 4gb or RAM on it. Then I'll record some footage and be able to put it through a decent post production loop. I think this is one of the most forward thinking mods out there, and look forward to future versions. PS - I'll be looking for a qualified website designer to put together the FRMP site soon. If you're what I'm looking for, and happen to live in or close to the land down under, PM some details. Cheers and Beers. The House of Dojoyoda: Where all things meet their opposites.

Howdy y'all! FastCargo here living in San Antonio, TX...originally from FL a long time ago. 37 years old, married, first kid born just this Memorial Day (yep, I get no sleep). Currently a pilot for a major overnight cargo carrier and fly for the USAF in T-38s. Old school gamer type from back when Space Invaders first came out (yes, I'm THAT old). Have done a bit of all types of gaming, but simulations/RTS tend to be my favorite...when I have the time! I've been following PDS since version 4 and I have been impressed. I like how much you try to incorperate real world doctrine...esp in regards to combined arms applications. Reminds me of my days back during my active career as a B-1 pilot, both in tactics and in philosophies (esp when making or executing an ATO). This of course is no help as I get regularly pasted anyway... .FastCargo "Pacifism is a shifty doctrine under which a man accepts the benefits of the social group without being willing to pay - and claims a halo for his dishonesty."

And from the look of things, JamesDax is also a fan of the superlative Space: Above and Beyond which makes him all the more welcome in my eyes. Now all we need are a few more fans of the new Battlestar Galactica, and we're set! |

Still looking forward to the official DVD boxset. Oh and btw, I love the new Battlestar Galactica. Those who live the longest will know the most. |

Good Day All. Some of you already remember me and the rest of you haven't any idea who I am. I was part of PDS from versions 4.8 through to just after official 5.0 and hung around until just before 6.0. Well for those of you that saw the exploding shoutbox, that was a result of miscommunication. It Happens in an environment like this. Anyone wants the full story, simply ask. Anyhow, I'm Ex-Military. Been in the CF for 7 years as a soldier in the dirt. Went over to Afghanistan in August 2K3 until Febuary 2K4. Good Experience for the most part. I miss it. (Getting back in soon.) I'll have to agree that there is a lot of experience here and it's welcome to see. Homeboy...Nice setup here. Thank You for allowing me to stay. Also I want to say thank you for giving PDS a home. |
