Practically speaking, the Taiidan are the only major faction to be received generally well. Some will tilt their heads in wonder on just who the Kush(Cush?) are, but the Taiidan are generally known. However, if the work is done then I have no objections either. And for the record, converting ships from HWC to HW2 is time-consuming. Not to mention their weird (in comparison to the HW universe) designs and balancing. @Sun: No need to apologize; whenever you have the time. |

Honestly, not much weirder than HW2 ships in comparison to HW ships. Aside from that, I like the Cush. They're kinda neat. If someone has the spare time to devise their ships, I don't see why it can't go directly to Sun or Tel' for approval. |

Tel' has assumed the mantle of god-emperor, holding court with his cloister of fawning women, and has no time for trivial matters such as this. ![]() Having ascended, he has given unto Sun Tzu all the rights and privileges to be the Master of the Realm and Territories that are PDS. I remain the loyal Consul to the throne, working to maintain harmony between the throne and the baronies found there-in. Its amazing what two fingers of bourbon can do for you. |

Hm, I might continue my work on the Cush Navy eventually. Well, less "eventually" and more "maybe really soon, until I find something shiny." The ships, for the most part, are already modeled, HODed, and in-game, it's just a matter of making them worthy for PDS. |

I'm sure once Sun Tzu has some time he will let us know if he has been able to make any progress. |

Well, as you can guess, there isn't much to report on my side if I didn't even have the time to post on the forum I've just changed computers, so I am reinstalling tools and files and get things to work again when I have some time.As I said, my priority is to complete the scenarios, then the dynamic unit caps / research modification scripting. Working on new taiidani ships will then come. Texturing is what needs to be done, and that takes time. I'm not going to give timelines, because I have a three month's girl and a wife to take care of, as well as a business to run and all of this tends to disrupt modding efforts from time to time Btw I was not designated by Tel as keeper of the realm; it just so happened that I had been the only one to produce something concrete with the classic v7 PDS over the last six months. So I am not meant to control things!Re unit caps, the mechanics are there; contents are needed. I've asked a few times on this forum some help on brigade-level organisation like Thorin did for the HGN space marines but got no feedback. Perhaps because you don't see how it will be used. So tonight I'll email to you PDS folks what I've done so far, so you can contribute on that. Re the ships Thorin is more than welcome to adapt the Cush models to the classic v7 space. So is anybody who wants to "optimise" the existing corvette and frigate models by integrating subsystems in the hod or wants to hod a taiidan model (texturing is not needed for that). |

Thanks for the update! I can imagine that your time is very limited these days. Indeed, since you are the lead for modification and introduction of changes you are in control of the effort. As you pointed out there are no others who are actively working PDS. That to my mind makes you the keeper of the realm. Democracy only works if everyone has the ability and the desire to be an active part of the process. Plus while it may work great for govenance, it is not always the best way to do a mod. ![]() Benevolent dictators seem to do better at making progress, although it is not always pretty. |

@Sun, if you would please send me some of the Taiidan ships you have, I'll gladly see what I can do. |

Hey people! ShowHow sent me his kickass taiidan models, here: http://bentusi.hiigara.net/taidai.rar I would be glad if someone would take an use of them. BTW In two weeks my exam session will come to it's end. This means that I'll have a lot more free time. Does it's possible to make some initial/alpha package of PDS Taiidan ships to test? I'm asking because that was the way of work of PDS (aahh pre-7.0 times - new beta every month , beautiful times) that rely on comunnity support and feadback.Right now this forum is used by few team members, and one to three solid fans. Nothing near the crowd we had in days before those experimantal packages (7.6, NG-something). I guess people would more aprecieate Quake 66 (aka PDS 7.3.2) than something new (aka those experimantal packages). It's cruel but it's true. Edited by mrWHO on 26-01-2007 09:49 |

Mr. Who, it is true that we are past the heady days of the past when new versions came out it seemed with astonishing regularity. If we can find a good team with the time available that OGL had, and was willing to devote to the mod., perhaps we can regain our glory. We have a darn good PDS'master in Sun Tzu, however the reality is that he does not have the time available to churn out a constant stream of PDS wonderment. Like all things the sun is well past noon for us. I for one intend to enjoy watching the sunset. |

I think that we should recruit some fresh meat from Relic forum, coz with this Hod Tool it would be easy to find some hoders (I guess the biggest pain would be to find some texturers). Someone should announce that PDS if alive and need help in "mods in progress" section, coz now PDS topic is only in "complete mods" section. |

I would like to help but I do not have really any useful modding skills. I enjoy writing but you already have someone who writes. My other concern is I do not have a lot of to time to throw around. |

I could, but I'd personally want to have something to show first to get people's intrest. While this isn't a nesscessity, it might bump up potential staff or at the very least, reassure people that we aren't dead yet. |

Well, thanks to that HOD tool, I did make a new Keeper-based ship...I'm still testing it. |

Folks, I think that an advert of 7.3.1 is the best we can do at the moment. I think if we advert that we are in the process of trying to build a playable Taiidan fleet we would peek some interest (some of it maybe less than desirable). If we can keep PDS afloat till this summer, perhaps we can impress with the delivery of a ITN with some new ships and some Vaygr with improvements. I do not see us suddenly getting it all in place in a month or two and think we ought to be realistic at the timeline. I would like to hear what some of the people who actually doing the modifications think about realistic timelines. |

It's hard to say. Some things are done in a snap (more realistically 5-7 days). Some others, like two Hiigaran strikecraft I would be more than eager to build HODs for, may take a month. It also depends on how available the staff would be...and such. |

Is there anywhere we could get some non-combat ships? It would be nice to have convoys with more than just the bishops. Even a cruise liner version of the |

Well that one is rather easy: make a copy of the ship files (vgr_j5) open the ship's hod with ColdFusion, and get rid of every turret, then edit the .ship and delete every weapon line. Then you have the original Nalthoran cruiser. Otherwise it's a question of modelling and texturing Some HW1 ships could be used as inspiration for cargo/barge haulers. Example:
Sun Tzu attached the following image:

That red one is actually the initial concept for the Taiidani resource collector. Obviously, the output isn't very good, but that's what it is. :p That blue ship is an assault frigate, iirc. |
