Number of ship versions: we should avoid having ships with too similar designs and roles. Triikor: I think we should keep it asymetric, for it is the main ship's characteristic. The hiigaran LSF is asymetric too. The original triikor also has features that can be useed to reduce the effect on the center of gravity (the fins, and the pod situated on the other side of the hull), making it flyable. This does not prevent putting a second gun on the the model as a strike fighter variant. Integration of subsystems: I cannot agree more. I've already done it for the LSF, the Thunderbolt IV, and for the beam turrets of the Bloodhound and the Linebacker: that drastically reduces the visual lag of beam weapons. It has the effect to increase the size of hods, so I don't know if that could be a nuisance as a whole. I suppose for that too, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and we will be able to assess possible downsides only if we do it. Also it makes convergence with UE more possible (higher speed requires less subs and focus is made on the ship's integrity as a whole rather than weapon subs). If anybody wants to lend a hand, I can make a tutorial for weapon subs hod integration. |

Quote It has the effect to increase the size of hods, so I don't know if that could be a nuisance as a whole. It really help reduce lag, new wersion of SW:Warlords mod proved that inegration of turrets subsystems into models help CPU performance. In W 0.45 small frigate have 20-30 turrets subsystem and bigger ships have even more. This caused that having 2 Star Destroyers and few frigates battleing with each other caused large lag. Now with pathed version I could have Super Star destroyer, few Star Destroyers and a lot frigates shooting an still have about 15-25 Fps (comparing to ~3 Fps with similar situation in W 0.45). The question is: should we integrate light PDS turrets on Capitals (this would means that PDS grid would be invunerable and only be overloaded with a lot of missiles) or leave them and integrate only on Frigates and Below? |

Weapon configs: LRAM- long range missile all red (lilithium) ion cannons used by Taiidans are base on Vayg ions, but have longer range, bigger dammage, smaller reload time -> As we know in backstory, IT are technologically superior to ADM (and bit superrior to HGN, however, HGW has more ships, for now) and it didn't gave ADM it's best stuff. Triikor mk.1 R - 1x 90mm AC, 1x light plasma lance, MRAM2 launcher Triikor mk.1 HR - 1x 90mm AC, 2x lilithium ICA. Triikor Evolved - 1x light plasma lance, 2x MRAM2 launcher. Light Recon/EW Fighter - 1x light plasma lance. Scout Evolved - 2x 90mm AC, 2x LRAM launchers. Kaark mk.1 R - 2x plasma autocannons(similar to vay bomber cannons), 2x HVR launchers. Kaark Evolved - 2x plasma autocannons, 2xHVR, 2x fussion missiles. Shamshir A,B,C - same as Vaygr. Saarkin-Cho R: 7x (3xtop,2xbottom,2x side) lilithium ICA 11x(4 top,3xbottom,4 side) 90mm AC 4x (2xtop,2xbottom) turreted MRAM2 launchers 6x (side mount, 3x per side) HVR launchers 4x HVT launchers (front hangar tubes, mounted on inner sidewalls of hangar) QJE C&C - larger hangar, sensor range, EW, but heavy lilithium Ion cannons replaced by lilitium ICA. QJE - Similar to Vayg version, but mount overall better beams. Edited by mrWHO on 13-01-2007 12:46 |

Could you make the tutorial. I wouldn't mind having a look. Not quite gone yet. Motorbikes are all well and good (ace) but if you get four days of gale force wind and the possibility of snow you find yourself not going anywhere. |

Gents, Being the longest running member of PDS I have to tell you I am mildly optimistic that indeed we will have a ImpTaii fleet for HW2PDS. If I might offer a word of caution here. Lets not let our excitment overburden our hobby. I think we have a wonderful start on a fleet. We have strikecraft in the works, and viable frigates (I agree with Sun Tzu that Dei's ships appear to me to be consistant with modernized Taii 'and' are consistant with QJE and some of EE's work.) Since part of PDS canon is that the ImpTaii where the 'power behind the throne' and supported the Crusades with ship technologies, any of the Vaygr ships are good for a start. Time permitting we can integrate other ships. If we desire to have significant differences immediately perhaps EvilJedi will allow us to use some of the ships from his Redux mod. As to Ent E. I worked hard early last year and the year before to get an agreement for the Vanaar Jet into PDS. He as the shipwright and Tel as the ModMaster could not find common ground (EE wanted no change to his Ubership and Tel did not want an Ubership he could not work with). I reiterate that when we looked to add it, PDS was much less evolved. I look at it as the 8000 - 10,000 RU mega ship with the QJE being the standard heavy ship of a fleet. I do not know if EE made the light cruiser into a model for the game. |

Mostly_harmless: the tutorial has been posted in the forum. Yasotay: I will see how the Vanaar_Jet behaves as is, with EE's original files, and see how uber it is. |

Quote Yasotay: I will see how the Vanaar_Jet behaves as is, with EE's original files, and see how uber it is. AFAIK Dustwars mod switched VJ kinetic turrets to some kind of plasma guided torp. Does this means that "do not change" directive is only for main beams (aka, can we put additional weapons on VJ ???). I'm asking because having a VJ with only two kinetic turrets and two uber beams is to lame for PDS and not worth our efford. Edited by mrWHO on 14-01-2007 13:33 |

If that is the case then we're in business. We were probably going to keep the existing weapons (maybe tune the damage ratios) and just add various guided weapons, DEWs, and CIWS to make it vible in PDS. It will probably be the most powerful single combatant in the game (though not to the extent of wtfpwning everything else, just stronger by a small margin), so Hiigaran players will have to outmanuver or hit with strikecraft or generally think before they attack. If it is too uber, we can tune it down or possibly add something like the T-MAT Devourer BB to the Hiigaran side, or simply not include it.

[/lurking] I was under the impression that you could not alter anything (including damage, health, and other ship stats). |

Hey Inert! Good to see you still stop by. Good to have 'old school' here now and again. I think your recollection may be correct. However that may have been due to the circumstances of the time. If Dustwars has made changes then perhaps the hard line is not so solid. Sun Tzu may find that by current PDS standards, while the VJ can smot frigades with a single blow it has little defense. |

Glad to see you too yasotay. I hope you are right, but considering the level of combat in PDS, it might even stay good as is, one hopes. |

The VJ probably needs a ton of CIWS, guided ordnance, and EW crap to be effective. That, plus some minor tweaks regarding behaviour and adding or subtracting some zeroes in the .SHP files. We can keep the beams Uber/Sub Uber and add what we need to increase survivability in our current operating envrionment, and we'll be all set. I can see the VJ as a Very Heavy support battleship built to take on bigger ships or support fighters. It's IC-2500s have nearly 360 degree coverage to make up for it's realitively poor manuverability. It can be able to engage any other Super Capital combatant one on one and usually finish it off before said victim can bring it's full armarment to bear, though in general engagements with large groups of smaller frigates, destroyers, and Strikecraft, it would be swamped unless it can stay far out of the battle and dive in or make a tactical jump to engage targets of oppurtunity, then Retreat/Jump to safety. Should Enterprise-E find these terms unreasonable, then we're done. PS: Oh and welcome back, Inert. We missed ya. Are you staying for good, or just stopping by? |

Agree 100%. I suspect that EE will have no issue with Ubership being more Uber. If so, then OK it was no loss to us, other than a great Taiidan ship (like most others frankly) did not get into a mod. |

I didn't have much time lately, but took it to test the Vaanar-jet in PDS environment. It has the hull and firepower of a Cazador. So Ironwatsas got it right about brining her to par with PDS ships and retaining her specificity. Edited by Sun Tzu on 17-01-2007 21:59 |

LOL - as we suspected time has made the vaunted Vanaar - Jet feable. If I might recommend Suz Tzu that we bring it up to Battle Cruiser or Battleship standards and then see if EE has issue with making it survivable in the PDS 'verse with the power expected of an Imperial Flagship. |

Then we'll E-mail or PM Ent-E and see if he'll talk with us on neutral ground (I.E, our old auxuilry fourm or Relicfourms). Regarding the mod, how difficult would it be to convert Somtaaw ships from Cata for use by the Federation of Kush Navy? |

Blee!!! Then I would hate to be Cush ![]() JK Iron I would like to recommend that you or Sun Tzu approach EE on this . I am afraid that I have "baggage" with him from the first attempts. I will certainly be glad to do so, but the decision cycle might be less rational with me involved... |

Although I am not in any position to talk yet, I do not think adding anything other than the Taiidani should be our concern right now (if they're going to be added at all). I am still waiting for Sun to bring me up to date on things. I imagine he is very busy with his family, which is why I went into lurk-mode in the first place. |

Yes, sorry about that. And I'm also changing computers (switching back to my old mac and getting a laptop PC). It should be ok by the middle of next week. |

Inert, I agree with you that our focus should remain on Taiidan, and in fact what Sun Tzu has time to do. That said if Iron or others want to look into, and execute development of, ships for other fleets and the means to integrate them into PDS I see no reason to say no. Ultimatley it is Sun Tzu who has authority since he is the one doing the work. |
