I intend to alter the button colors.... but I'm having quite the goose chase searching what files do that... |

Colours are defined in each screen .lua files, most often by reference to pre-defined colours set up in hw2styles.lua (data/ui/newui/styles/ dir). Button colours are graphic files (same dir). If you change the current graphic files, I guess that will affect all of the UI graphical elements, up to ingame menus and taskbars. So that looks like a huge project. I say you, SunTzu, is the perfect choice to lead the effort to make AS 7.6 into a proper total conversion complete with RTS mode gameplay (right now it only offers Harpoon style tactical warfare but no grand campaign) |

Thanks, but perhaps I should wait to finish this project with 7.2 before starting a new one ![]() Updated menu attached (and put on Filefront) with: - SP scenario list and thumbnails - ingame menu for scenarios [edit: this replaces the previous one] A couple of things remain to be done in the area (except the graphical part Inert is dealing with): - complete/update the general information screen - transformation of the useless 'patch info' menu into an information menu with an intriductory brief about the PDS universe (post-invasion era, Nalthor, IVF, Federation of Cush and so on), provided that somebody with writing talents would like to write the fluff

I've got here a 13,000 word world setting manual/RP novella for PDS-AS. I'm sure you can glean a lot of ideas from it. Hopefully I will be able to get it up tomorrow. Or later today. |

A manual! great! Re graphics, here is the proof that loading screens and main menu screens can be different, and that it is possible to have different available screens randomly loaded each time you're seing it: http://files.filefront.com/loading_sc...einfo.html |

Little update: - It took me days to learn how to turn a ship screenshot into a more or less decent HW2 style icon, but now I can do each of them in 20 min or so, so we'll be on schedule with them. Example below. - Autodock script has been rewritten to be more efficient. - If somebody has the hodding skills to fix the bugs on the auxiliary carrier (inverted badge) and the nalthor bcr (inverted lighting), he'd be more than welcome to help ![]() - I hope to release next week a SP-converted test scenario.

Thanks. Nearly all missing or sketchy icons are made or replaced now; time of rescaling and mapping is near at hand. A few examples below.

Thanks, but that's just basic photoshop stuff. Nothing close to the awesome marquess icon that was done before. A few words about what I am planning for campaign redesign: - it will remain the Ascension campaign: Hiigara defense against Makaan culminating in major engagements in the Homeworld skies and at the center core of the galaxy - the storyline point of view will be a not-so-senior 15th Fleet officer, rather than Karan S'jet, with hopefully some dynamic elements (such as achievements in level N influencing the responsibilities given in level N+1 or back-up mission N' if you fail N) - the missions will be altered to a larger extent than what was done in earlier versions of PDS, however putting together mission scripts is a -long- process so don't expect too much - getting overambitious would lead nowhere - the primary objective is to correct the inconsistencies of the first three missions (such as in m01 an utterly important base like Tanis being defended by collectors or, in m02, Vaygr sending just commerce raiders to Angel Moon whereas they just spotted the main asset of HGN fleet in the sector) and make them more of a challenge. I've not made much work on those points yet, so everything is open to discussions, contributions and changes. |

Sun Tzu - I must second Thorin on the superior work. Well done sir. Very much looking forward to the final work. Agree that overwhelming oneself with ambition has led to the demise of many a good effort. |

The key is to keep it simple so you can get a package deployed. Fast. That will let you know whether to continue, or not. In my opinion continuous updates are preferable to withholding until the 100% line - since this after all is a non-commercial project. Those icons, by the way, are first-rate. |

It's not so much the point of making icons that is hard, but actually being able to put them in-game, Sun. Nice work, nonetheless. edit: update on menu stuff. The font/positioning of the font can be altered afterwards.

With that kind of font we're probably discussing swords and sorcery instead of science and laser guns ![]() |

I love the flare and transparent map. Very nice additions. I agree with Tel about the font. Re Icon mapping. I've done a test with a single tga file that was satisfactory. A complete mapping with an all-inclusive rot/dds file is on my today agenda. If it ends up in a screen-head-banging happening, you'll be the first to know What I've done so far is rescaling the icons in the four resolutions used in Relic scripts (800, 1024, 1280 and 1600) using the same icon sizes as Relic's (3:1 per 64, 82, 102 and 128). As far as I understand, mapping is standardized in 800 coordinates, eliminating the need to re-map in every resolution. Let's hope it works ![]() |

thank god! I was beginning to lose all hope that 7.2 would never be continued, but here it is, polishing and balancing, exactley what I was looking for! Instead of complaining endlessley I think I'll put my skills to use and help out this effort by making loadscreens and icons. Sun Tzu, thank you for continuing the project! |

Thanks for the encouragement! I think we're done with icons for the moment, until in-game tests and community feedback. For loadscreens, feel free to post work here and discuss with Inert who took responsibility for that part. If that can help I'll upload a template of the relic loadscreens in photoshop format in Filefront when I'm back home. EDIT: template posted there: http://files.filefront.com/Background_2psdzip/;5009530;;/fileinfo.html Edited by Sun Tzu on 20-04-2006 00:40 |

Icons are ingame Piece of screenshot below. It's a tga file though as the dds conversion somehow messed up the alpha channel. I'll try other tools for conversion :/
