A Lack of Sound in a Vacuum
Cobalt Shiva
How about a resigned 'ah, hell, sir...'

Seriously, let's just go with the professional contact reports. "New contact, BV-type, class is Al-Khalid." Or somesuch - recommendations, Tel?

Really looking forward to this, it'd be ASTOUNDING for 8.0.
"This is tactical control..."

New contact.
BV(spoken battlecarrier).
Al Khalid.
2-0-9(spoken Direction two-ought- nine) space 3d coordinates makes this a bitch.
1-3-5(spoken heading one-three-five)
800 meters and closing(or sumsuch)

Weather aint neutral....

800 meters? You're dead already XD

And if it was spatial 3D coordinates, this is the way I see it:

349 by 23 would mean 349 degrees on the plane, 23 degrees up.

Therefore 324 by -50 would mean 324 degrees on the plane, 50 degrees below.

I dunno XD

It's how Trek does it, and several other sci-fi genres. And it's not bad either. Those two conditions do not always overlap Grin

its how all NATO(and similar) Navy`s do itPfft

and theres no -50 degrees picture a cirkel 360 degrees and a nother circle perpendicular onthe first now you can have spacial coordinates.

always point out 50 degrees as 0-5-0

so on a heading with the bow of a ship at 0-0-0 0-0-0

heading 2-7-0 0-0-0 wil take u 90 degrees left
heading 0-9-0 0-0-0 wil take you 90 degrees right

In space, loud things, like explosions, are even louder because there's no air to get in the way.

MarieHawke
That's only in Anime >_<

And as for why it would be negative - if you have something going at 90 by 135, wouldn't it be easier to say 270 by 45? >_>

no you couldnt there always the matter of port and starboard left and right
counting degrees clockwise ......please tell me that you atleast held a compass once
if you havent JOIN THE ARMED FORCES even if only to learn a compass and reading a mapGrin

@ altima

sound is vibrations oscillation whatever you want to call it
thats why its measured in Frequency(Hertz). or how many vibrations a second determines what sound you hear.

sound needs a medium to tranfer through in other words something that can oscillate space(in our solar system) contains on average less then 10 atoms per cubic centimeter(a puny amount). so nothing is able to transfer vibrations thus there is no sound plain and simple.

Speed of sound in water is higher then air becuase of the greater molecule density, steel passes sound even faster
334,985 and 1500 meters per second respectively(i think i might be off its been a long time)

I'm going by the civilian (?) method like in a commercial aircraft. 360/0 is dead ahead, 270 is to the left, 180 is behind you, and 90 is to your right.

About the radio chatter [i just started playing recent;y] I like it and it is entertaining although haveing event chatters would improve it a lot. Thers is only one thing that is pissing me off since I started playing is the rosource collectors they always say the exact same thing and every single time i tell them to do anything.

Also the chatter is funny too cuz although i apprecieate the voice acting and its pertty good its funny the some of it is really really obviousy that it was recorded with a computer mic.

As an added suggestion the Black Rose...i think thats what its called is my favourite ships and it would be cool to have an event that when you build it and it launches it would say a darth vader line like. "I am your father." [without the luke part] or borg "Resistance is futile."
From just the trailers alone I've deduced that PDS is Homeworld 2 ON A 'FATAL' DOSE OF VIAGRA!!!!
