Command line switch -determcompplayer

@Gal

Ctrl-A is a tactic at my disposal. Why not use it? It comes in handy. There's nothing like manouevering beneath a capital ship and hitting it where it hurts. Crtl-A (move and attack) when micro-managead can work wonders in the right situation.

Ctrl-A in conjuction with plain-old 'Move' commands confuses the enemy. When used while switching between passive and agressive tactics gives one a tremendous amount of control over a cap or super-cap ships behaviour. It's all about outflanking baby... :-) Furthermore it creates *unpredicatability... IMO your best weapon against both AI and human opponents.

I'm curious... do you have something against the use of the command? For the record... I don't.

If anyone has any thoughts or disagrees with me... please post your opinion!

If you're not in aggressive mode, your ships' anti-missile systems will not function. If you give a manual attack order or, I believe, use attack-move, you get the same result.

I'mpositive about aggressive mode and manual attack order, not so certain about attack-move.

However, by switching between passive and aggressive, you really confuse the ship's AI. They won't always stop firing when you go passive (up to a minute or two), and they won't always start firing right away either.

The AI for individual ships has been programmed to simulate the crews taking shots where they feel it's best. For instance, you'll notice missile barrages not going off as fast as they can be launched, but waiting until they have a high probability of a hit.

This command line switch sounds extremely promising - will try it out.

Concur with original suggestion that it should be standard on PDS.

RP-wise, the use of this command line switch could indicate an enemy more willing to commit resources to secure their objective - this is a critical battle, and the strategic objective is worth a large number of losses.

Commendations on the excellent test work.
