 HOW-TO SET UP PDS/NGCS ON PC (and STEAM) --- !READ BEFORE POSTING!

Ok so this is the problem I am having: I am following all he directions but i get errors when extracting to the HW2 folder. these errors as a matter of fact, in this order: ! C:\Documents and Settings\kamal\Desktop\PDS_v7[1].3.0.rar: Unexpected end of archive ! C:\Documents and Settings\kamal\Desktop\PDS_v7[1].3.0.rar: CRC failed in PDS v7.3.0\ship\hgn_shipyard\hgn_shipyard.hod. The file is corrupt ! C:\Documents and Settings\kamal\Desktop\PDS_v7[1].3.0.rar: Unexpected end of archive The last two occur right as the extraction is near completion. When I try to play after this, it is all still vanilla PDS. And when I check the HW2 folder, it appears the PDS files extracted to a seperate folder not the data folder, it makes some other folder called v7.3.0 in addition to the data folder and the bin folder. But nothing in the data folder is different................can you help me? thank you! |

Try redownload the file. Seems to be corrupted.

Okay. So, I'm still having a problem loading this up. And, if I'm a total nubcakes, feel free to throw a rock at me head. Anyway. I'm still having the ol', "I click on it and nothing happens problem." I've been reviewing this, and downloaded the additional patch and applied it to the Data folder, overwriting a few things. Still nothing. I suspect the real problem that I'm having here is that I have no idea where I put the " " around c:\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe to make it look like "c:\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -overrideBigFile Any suggestions? (Try not to yell too loudly.) |

1. It should, in the first part, reflect Your installation path 2. If winxp, XP will tell You shortcut is invalid most of the errouoneous time. 3. "" to be placed as you suggested, however, if You are not admin of Your system, i am not sure. What You post seems to be correct. Maybe you unpacked the archive so it became "/data/data" folder or sometihing like that? king-o'da'bigfile

Okay, so, let me get this straight. First, I run Windows. Second, I've either: A: Got this completely right already, or, B: I still need to put the " " around it. Let's hope it's B. In the case that it is B, then I need to put the " " around the directory when I'm installing Homeworld2? If It's the Shortcut path, then where do I do that? Properties tab? That didn't work. The " " didn't stick. -Edit- Okay, yeah, I got it, Home. ^^ Thanks. By the by, it is in the properties tab, and I never used the " ". Suggestion: You should make a PC and Mac Readme to download with the Mod. (I can help you with the PC one, if you like.) Edited by Hazard on 12-08-2006 01:31 |

EDIT: I'm dumb. Just now found the 7.3 thread. Yeah, yeah, laugh, I figured 7.3 was "newer" and thus "not as stable" as 7.0, hence why I was gunning for 7.0. I know, I know, me dumb. Durr. Anyway, downloading 7.3 now. Hopefully it'll work for me. Though I'd still like to point out that the 7.0 and 8.0 files on FileFront seem corrupted, or at least they were the last few times I downloaded 'em. EDIT EDIT: GAH. Ok, disregard the corrupted file report please. Just discovered that apparently my download manager no longer plays nice with FileFront (no idea why, but just at the moment of completion, I was watching this time, the download stops for a moment, then restarts suddenly, and bam, corrupt file, somehow.)...because I just finished downloading 7.3 and it too is corrupt. -Sigh.- Irritating, another 7 hours of downloading down the drain. Hello there! I`ve got a problem. Version of PDS - 7.3.1. Problem - after completing 5th mission (capturing Oracle) the game plays the ending movie with credits and quit.Tryed to replay from different parts of 5th mission - but it was useless - ending credits. Maybe it was because of my installing of PDS - i didn`t erase /DATA files, just overwrite. I`ve tried to reinstall HW 2 with deleting /DATA files except .big and Animation, and use savegames - bit it was useless. Need help  |

PDS-Single player is intended to end at the fifth mission (good job and congratulations!). There are technical issues that prevent PDS from going further in SP. They might be revisited in the future. |

I can't seem to get NGCS working. I'm not new to HW2 mods and many other mods work. I've put the -overrideBigFile in the shortcut but it doesn't seem to change anything. Yes it is a clean install and yes i've made sure the directory structures are intact. this is what i've done:- Installed HW2 Patched to 1.1 Installed NGCS earth beta 2 to data folder so that data folder contains many new folders added -overrideBigFile to short cut Am I missing something or was NGCS supposed to go over the top of another mod like PDS or something? |

If your instal is correct, you probably missed the special NGCS game type in the Player vs CPU menu. NGCS was experimental work, so the PDS UI of the time was used as is. |

Max, If you are having difficulty installing the non-big file versions of PDS, here are the links to the PDS mod in .big format. You install these ones the same way you installed the TFS mod. I got a big problem.. the little orange/red button in Player VS CPU setup that says "More Options" is missing so i can't scroll down on the game options window.. this problem accured when i tried to install Battlestar galactiga Fleet commander mod and it destroyed my game so i was forced to reinstall HW2 and all the mods and then the "more options" button were missing... please help me!!! |
