DW is a limited scope, ASW centric simulation with excellent technical realism. Harpoon is the original computer naval battle management sim able to handle sub, air and surface warfare from tactical to strategic levels. Harpoon has a very noble heritage. DW is a recent Sonalysts' product which is excellent in its own right but not comparable to Harpoon - different games, different scope. Facts before posting if you please. Quote komo....see above copy/paste for further examples of "ridicule" posted by others than the sizzler Vladimir3d can take care of himself. He doesn't need you playing moderator of what is and what isn't fair-game in a debate about the complexities (or what he calls, non-complexities.) of PDS. I asked if he's tried v11 and he hasn't responded yet. So I took the benefit of the doubt and assumed he hasn't, since it didn't sound like he had. For if he had, he'd realize that it's the farthest thing from a one-ship-win gametype. Hence, the inhaling reference. Not directed at him, you see, because he obviously hasn't played PDS11 extensively. |

Do note that everyone here isn't trying to get at others' throats. We have at least 3 different discussion cultures in this single thread itself, and little issues regarding the meaning of words/sentences should be overlooked in favour of the big picture. If we insisted on keeping to ourselves (as some others have done recently) then lots of noise would be made and no work would be done. Part of the fun, and challenge, is being able to filter non-essential input and stick to your guns! |

yes i have tried pds v 11 yesterday. Too many white (blue) beam weapons for my tastes, makes the thick of the fighting look like a checkers board. May i suggest - hiig advanced dew frigate to feature same firing sequence beams as progenitor keeper. aka, i'd like to see for each race to have their own beam weapon color - hiig blue, vaygr red, taiidan yellow - or something in that matter. that will make much easier make sense of what the heck is going on. also, i must complaign again about the fighters, advanced interceptor in particular - that super-little arrow shaped ship. Its size in-game is very small compared to other fighters. In fact its the smallest craft in the game - visually, which makes very hard for me to believe the stat numbers and picture are remotely collerated. the light interceptor pic is way too big, disproportionally big when compared to other fighters, even corvettes. I think simplfying fighter armament and using other pics will do the game much good. my proposition. Hope is a first step on a road of disappointment.

![]() Interceptor Basicly interceptor stays mostly the same- except: Add missiles and increase firepower of its main gun. Research - speed, armament -> lvl 1 then lvl 2 ![]() Heavy Fighter This thing i envision as interceptor on steroids: faster, tougher, way more expensive. It can have primary ballistic and pulsar beam weapon. Research speed, armor lvl 1 then lvl 2 ![]() Strike Fighter I'd like this one to be a specialised anti-frigate ship. Like vaygr who have specialised anti-corvette lance, this can be hiig specialised anti frigate fighter Research speed, lvl 1 then lvl 2 ![]() Strike Fighter mark-2 Kinda like regular strike fighter, but specialises against enemy cap-ships. Slower than mark-1 but more heavily armored Research armor, lvl 1 then lvl 2 Hope is a first step on a road of disappointment.

Hmm, did you design those? The AF-17C looks like a pulsar fighter from other mods, and the 'Heavy Fighter' and FF-17A look like they are too, just modified a bit more. (the Heavy Fighter looks like an LSF without the AC275 and with a much larger Pulsar cannon.) Also, I agree that the game's been getting a bit ion crazy. But that's an easy fix, really. I simply replaced the light defense ions of the Taiidani with a new competent kinetic cannon. Also, to alleviate lag (especially in invasion gametype.), I multiplied the weapon reload time by 2, but multiplied the damage inflicted by 2 as well. So DPS is kept the same, but lag is reduced. The gameplay is changed minorly, in that first-strike matters more, but ships mostly maintain the same roles. Edited by Tristan on 14-09-2007 01:34 |

no i did not design those 2 strike fighters. However, these are only the pics and i DON'T have nor intend to use the actual models. However if anyone here would want to incorporate them into pds, i will gladly ask for permission from their respected artist, I will only need to know who created those respected mods Hope is a first step on a road of disappointment.

The "FF-17" is work done by Greggy, author of the Modernisation mod. It was taken and used by TFS (as Greggy's work was released free for the community to use) in the above forms. PDS did review the heavy interceptor prototype but deemed it of a quality too low to be included. LSF (light bomber) passed, though. So we made our own heavy interceptor out of a Relic concept pic - this you know as the Avenger. As for the rescaled Blade interceptor, it goes true to Relic's original Dust Wars Blade fighter concept... which actually has two plasma cannon turrets and is a blazingly fast offensive unit. When/if I get a suitable light interceptor model or create one myself, the Mark 21 Blade will disappear leaving the Cutlass the true decendant of the Dust Wars HW2 strike corvette. |

In my opinion the buildtime of nearly all ships need some tweaking. A battleship should really take some considerable time to be build. Maybe you should increase the build time for most capital ships. At the moment I rather start by building a capital than anything else. If the buildtime is increased, one will think twice, to wait that long. |

well, in my honest opinion, i think that those ships from modernization engine are of absolutely excellent quality, but i guess art is subjective. I simply don't particularly like light and heavy interceptor in-game cgi Hope is a first step on a road of disappointment.

Eh, I don't see anything wrong at all with the 'quality' of those fighters, personally. |

I could if it's doesn't involve hodding scripting or something like that since i really don't have time. If you get stuck or something like that or don't know how to do something I'm willing to point you in the right direction. |

Hope is a first step on a road of disappointment.

Hmm, I don't know how I would go about that. I'd probably have to host it somewhere, but first I'd have to prooftest and rebalance stuff (I change/add stuff to my own variant of PDS daily.) I'd be willing to help you any way I could that is within my jurisdiction, though. |
