Experamental RP: Operation Fallen Winter
Komo val
OOC: Dear God what a mess it has become. Look we never said you did something wrong, we just said that it would be in the interest of the RP if the rumors about that ''super'' ship stay only rumors. Your roleplay so far has been flawless. Please do not take this personal nor feel a need to leave because of a small discussion.

ATTN: Admiral Watsas
DATE: 30/3/9620-GSY
LOCATION: HN Reletless II, New Colorado system, Minefield NC-12
SUBJECT: Minefield Almost Clear, Advancing to Assigned Position

At 0300 hours we began Mine sweeping operation in the Turanic minefield designated NC-12. With the support of the minesweeping teams from the 41st Logistics and Support Division, which was conducting resource operations near by, we advanced quickly. The size of the minefield was underestimated so it took longer than expected.

Due to reports of Vaygr carrier activity in my yet-to-be Area of Operations I ordered to first clear a path for my main force. I left the Marquess class CVL Mana along side a full engineering team and two Linebackers to clear the the small part of the minefield still left at Rimward, relative elevation 83? 23' 00', deviation 30? 21' 01''. My main force is proceeding to th assigned AO and are prepared to invastigate the carrier activity. Given the bulk of the Relentless we are trailing behind, but still keeping sensor contact.

As Admiral Donitere said our precise navigational charts, alliance with the Turanics, and advanced sensors should give us a decisive advantage over the enemy forces present in this system, however the Taiidani presence worries me.

Admiral Seraphim, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure that the Admiralty has seen your excellence in this operation, and surely t must realize that
this operation is far more important then any petty skirmish or survey operation in the Northern Frontier. I am confident that the Admiralty will give you a important task soon, be patient.

One of my scout frigates sent to recon your forward position has detected what appears to be a small group of Vaygr frigates and assault cruisers, holding position in a dust clearing near your assigned destination. We belive these are trying to set up an ambush for your forces.

Please return the favor.

Further recon leads us to belive there is a carrier some distance away but capable of launching bombers at your fleet. However, recon is sketchy given the Dust field's interferance, s you will have to confirm this. Anyways, head's up for any suprises.

ENEMY CASUALTIES: All except 1x Spahi, and 4x Bombers

TASK GROUP STATUS: Reached the assigned AO and awaiting orders.

Upon receiving the message from Admiral Watsas I immediately proceeded to conduct additional recon. While the scouts where scanning the area, I ordered the Mana, which stayed back to clear the minefield, to collect as many mines as possible and reconfigure their IFF codes yet again. The plan is to return the mines to the Vaygr. Most of my forces stayed back to make for a more tempting target. The Reletless and my two PoHs moved in to a thight formation. The dust cloud interference should make it appear that there is only one ship. We where escorted by Blades and Avengers. The Mana and a substantial assault craft escort will sneak up behind the Vaygr and perform a bombing run on the Vaygr with all available ordinance (including mines).

The Scouts confirmed the composition and position of the Vaygr forces, with no advanced sensor ships, and the plan had a green light. At 20:12 the Vaygr forces began engaging what appeared to be a lone super-carrier. They where certainly surprised when suddenly instead of ship there where three. We opened fire with all guns. Then at the same while the Vaygr where going to retreat, the Mana and escort engaged the Vaygr ships crippling most of them in the first pass. At the same time the first wave of bombers (10 of them) appeared but where quickly flanked and destroyed buy our fighters.

While we moped up the remaining Vaygr a second wave of bombers appeared. Seeing their forces where annihilated they quickly retreated to the carrier. Realizing the opportunity to finally locate the elusive Carrier I sent two Avenger scouts to shadow them. While about to enter a near-by dustcloud, the Bombers where destroyed by what appeared to be anti-matter torpedoes and strategic level ion beams. Likely it was a Taiidani capital ship trying to prevent a fatal mistake by the Vaygr pilots.

It seems that we have a worthy opponent in this wasteland. Caution is mandatory.

My forces are holding position in my AO. Scans and recon operation seem to indicate that the no Vaygr nor Taiidani forces currently present in my AO, they have most likely retreated to an unknown base or rally point in the system.

I have seen the reason behind my current stalling at Nord kavagrad and it should be to your attention that my fleet is currently now at full strength. Apparently the fighting in the north is going beyond what command calls "good" and also numerous sideline areas are mopping up just as quickly. Command has sent my carriers back to me and I'm pleased to report that our combined operational status as a Full fledged Carrier strike fleet is up and operational.

Admiral Seraphim, I am most glad to hear that. With your forces we can finally put an end to this petty skirmishes in the system.

The first possible task would be as a forward assault force in the New Colorado system, but I believe that the New Colorado system is a choke point and should be bypassed if possible.

My plan is for you to get behind enemy lines and do chaos. Hopefully that will force the Vaygr to retreat their forces and make our job in the New Colorado system easier. We clean up the system and then get the Vaygr forces in a pancake, a pancake of pain. I'm still awaiting the response of the admiralty, but of course the final word is yours.

Joint operations between the you two are now approved, and a pincers move in New Colorado is a difficult venture. However, the Vaygr surely won't expect this.

However, I would suggest a specific target. The Vaygr have set up a supply depot in a cluster of old mining bases and their Carriers are holding position nearby. We belive they are awaiting heavies re-directed from Nord Kavagrad and other systems. The Vaygr carriers are probably escorted by frigates and atleast one Al-moudamer class cruiser.

These forces are a mix of regular clan forces, and the unidentified (presumed Vaygr-Taiidan) elite units. The Taiidan fleet however is holding well back and appear to be observing the Vaygr, however they should be assumed hostile should they move to your AO.

Myself and Admaral Donitere still have to clear out Vaygr DESRON moving towards Raider Base 14, and Admaral Ko'malak is still in Nord Kavagrad, so you two are going to have to improvise.

I have reviewed your plan and am most pleased with your cunning admiral Nabaal, the only thing I see wrong is, numerous sensor bouys before the operation picked up large vaygr movements in that area, I beleive the area in question may be a vain so to speek, their primary hyperspace gridpoints for getting reinforcements to new colorado, which would make assaulting it from one side a suicide mission.

I have an idea though and it makes sense to me, and proliforates your plan into something possibly even grander, the even better benefit is that if we both hit their rear and really choke them hard, maybe those frontline defenders will move away, giving admiral watsas and donitere a strieght line into the system, then as we slowly push into the system from the opposite direction, we would have four fleets moving into it, I don't think they're ready for that kind of action against them.

This plan is obviously only in its early planning stages and if not possible at all just let me know, but I do believe doing this would severely reduce casualties for us and maximize theirs.

Also, good luck to admiral watsas and donitere on attacking the desron, I forsee a great victory my brothers, a great one.

I'm most pleased with your plan Admiral Seraphim, I pray Sajuuk that our execution will be as good. I agree that such a venture will be difficult, but we have surprise on our side. As Admirals everywhere say, a pincer maneuver is difficult in ideal circumstances, let alone in a planetary ring, however their sensors are not perfect, they will only detect us when we get close due to interference.

Hopefully, this will push the Vaygr out of this system and let us continue this operation. I believe you are all as tired as me chasing sensor ghosts trough this wasteland.

ATTN: Rear Admiral Watsas

Fleet Admiral Jacyok Serah Donitere
Location: 15th Fleet staging area, New Colorado
Date: 04/04/9620-GSY
Mission: advance and hold position, arm Center

My assignment was to penetrate the Vaygr lines at a string of asteroid mining bases. I encountered heavy Vaygr resistance in this area. They seem to have stopped their retreat here, for reasons as of yet unknown, and are not going down without a fight.

It is surprising how simple it is to turn an asteroid mining base into a formidable defensive station. The base interior is almost entirely under the surface and it takes an extraordinary amount of firepower to destroy these fortifications. Not to mention, the Vaygr have had plenty of time to prepare these positions and have had time to make modifications to the bases to make them even more of a threat.

In this particular area, there are 15 such asteroid mining bases and 4 free-floating command stations previously used as offices for the mining operation staff. The Vaygr cobbled together weapons systems; mass-driver, beam weapons, missile launchers, essentially anything they could get their hands on, and installed them on the bases. The four command stations were armed and placed in front of the main line. Because of their small size and relatively small generators, they could not hold and power as many weapon systems as the much larger mining bases.

In addition to the weaponry aboard the bases, a Vaygr carrier task force was also present. It became quite clear that the Vaygr meant to make a stand at this place.

I started the engagement by initiating bombing runs on the four command stations. After the first station was destroyed, Vaygr strikecraft from the carrier task force arrived and a skirmish began between my fighters and theirs. I sent my four Cutlass class corvette squadrons in to support my fights and the enemy strikecraft withdrew. They seemed content with letting us destroy their forward stations.

Once this was accomplished I immediately sent one of my PoH's, the Windward, BCE-23, to launch a missile strike against the closest mining base, knowing full well that this attack could not succeed. It did have the desired affect, however, when the Vaygr TF was drawn out to attack the Windward and escorts. The Windward TF began what looked like a hasty retreat, drawing a large portion of the Vaygr TF with it. Then, the majority of my Arbiter and Aggressor cruisers hypered in behind the pursuing Vaygr and promoptly opened fire. This ambush was quite successful, and the survivors withdrew with much haste. This greatly decreased the effectiveness of the Vaygr TF and allowed my to conduct boarding operations against the mining bases nearly unopposed.

The remained of the operation was not easy, not by a long shot. The Vaygr put up a tough resistance and the fighting aboard the mining bases was often hand-to-hand. Nevertheless, the marines of the 15th and 8th Fleets are excellent at what they do and have captured 13 of the 15 mining bases. The weapons of the last two have been neutralized and we are waiting only for the Naxos gas we pumped into the air systems to take effect. If it works, we should have quite a few prisoners to interrogate.

Although we were able to destroy a large portion of the enemy TF, the carrier itself, along with about 25% of its original escort, managed to escape. Despite this, I could count our engagement here as a victory as we have smashed the Vaygr vanguard and can now push forward to engage the frontline. That DESRON cannot be too far from here, Admiral. I have began to refit the mining bases to make them even more deadly, should the DESRON show up. We will, within the week, have a very stable base of fire here. What the mining bases lack in maneuverability, they make up for in firepower.

Unfortunately, our success does not come without loss. Two of my new Arbiter cruisers were destroyed, as well as one of the Aggressors. Three Bloodhound frigates were lost and one Wolf seriously damaged. We were able to recover about 58% of the crew from those lost ships, but the rest are currently MIA and presumed KIA. Also, around 300 marines were KIA during the many assaults on the mining bases. They all died doing their duty and I am proud of every one of them.

Once the last two bases have been captured, I will establish a CAP in the area and send probes ahead of us. If that DESRON is operating in this area, we will certainly find it. If there are no modifications or changes to my current orders, I will adopt a defensive posture and prepare for a Vaygr counter-attack.

Admiral Donitere, let me congratulate you on another success. The loss of life is regrettable, but after all this is a war. Loss of life is inevitable. I know that Sajuuk will judge their souls righteously. The defeat of yet another Vaygr taskforce brings us closer to victory in this system and final victory. It will make mine and Seraphim's job a lot easier, thats for sure.

Speaking of which, admiral Seraphim, I'm moving into position to execute the ''master plan''. I'm confident your doing progress as well on your side of the system. We will start the operation at 0800h local time on 05/04/9620. If their is any reason to move the said time, just give me a call trough the Quantum Comm array. Well fellow hiigarans, I have assumed the best, and through thurough scanning my assumptions were correct, Our vaygr pals have a hyperspace gate highway running through this area. I'm guessing that the location of the three stars here is preventing their outdated capital Hyperspace generators from plotting a good course and not turning into a small pocket of ash from being too close to a star upon exiting... Only a guess though. Killing this highway, will significantly destroy their abilities in this sector and even damage the next projected area of operations. I am confident in our abilities and determination.

Admiral Nabaal, at 0800 06/04/9620-GSY I suggest we start our attack, my reasoning is as follows.

I've had two days to gather steath recon on this vital lifeline into new colorado and during the hours of 0600 to 1000 the gates are least active, I believe our biggest intent is to kill those gates before they could possibly move them our gate them out would be our best bet. If we can destroy the ones into the middle of the line it'd completely destroy their chances of getting craft in methodically. It could take them weeks to traverse this area on conventional drives so it is Imperative that these gates be the first targets. With those destroyed, Admiral Watsas and Admiral Donitere would have only the forces inside New colorado to deal with so no suprises. Also it should be noted that Our two fleets would be turning to push in from the top at the same time.

I think this one is pretty much full proof as of right now, my fleets not been spotted or if it has they're really good about hiding it. Praise be hiigara, see you on the battlefield.

Subject: Vaygr Retreating?

Location: HN Willamatte CVH-68, low orbit, Cheyanne Planetoid, New Colorado system

I have reason to belive that the Vaygr and Taiidani fleets are initiating a Strategic withdrawl from Nord Kavagrad and New Colorado. This is backed up by recon undertaken by Turanic, Nalthoran, and my own forces, plus intercepted communications. They have detected that most of the remaining Vaygr carriers are falling back to a number of slipgates presumably heading to Ezra Shanir and Kechlyr. They may be trying to lure us blindly into these systems to try and hit us in even worse environments then New Colorado.

Admaral Ko'malak has reported to have engaged and routed several Vaygr super capital ships and severely damaged a shipyard. After this, most of the surviving Vaygr fleet forces (atleast one carrier group and two small DESRONs) in Nord Kavagrad are retreating into Ezra Shanir. Two thirds of the Vaygr forces and all of the Taiidan units in New Colorado appear to me heading in the direction of Ezra Shanir and Kechlyr respectively. However, a small covering force are staying back to attempt to stall us.

The CVBG Admaral's Seraphim and Nabaal are scedualed to attack appear to be recalling patrols and harvesting resources. The two of you are to engage and prevent these units from escaping into Ezra Shanir, their presumed destination.

Admaral Donitere is ordered to move to the co-ordinates attached to this message to intercept a small carrier group before they reach a Hyperspace gate. He will then hit the gate itself, which has a small number of vessels guarding it.

My force is moving to assault a Vaygr battlegroup that may be trying to circle behind Admaral Seraphim and hit his flanks. We need to move fast, and my units are already in position to intercept the Vaygr assault ships and carriers.

Admaral Ko'malak will remain in Nord Kavagrad and mop up the surviving Vaygr there and reinforce our flanks. He will then move to assist our advance after we remove the Vaygr from our AO.

You have your orders, go to it, and may Koshiir Ra protect you all. Watsas Out.

TASK GROUP STATUS: Holding Perimeter

At precisely 0800 we began our assault. The Nalthoran Stealth Attack group wast tasked with initial assault then to support our advance. Admiral Seraphim with the bulk of the allied forces would engage moments later, then my forces will emerge as the final surprise. This was hoped would disorient the Vaygr defenders at make it an easier victory.

My forces Where divided into to groups. The main group consisting of my flagship and the bulk of my forces would assault the Vaygr positions, while the Raid group Liir'hra, 3 Bloodhounds, a Linebacker, and 5 Marine frigates of the 101st Spaceborne will raid the lightly defended supply depots nearby and try to commandeer the supplies for our use.

When my forces emerged from the dustcloud I was greeted with an awe inspiring site. The black sky was lit with a thousand suns as the battle raged. The Nalthorans where extremely successful in their initial assault, Disabling a strikecruiser, and destroying the power relays on all but two jumpgates (The remaining two where destroyed by admiral Seraphim's strikecraft). My forces quickly followed the pre-planed assault pattern. While the initial assault was effective a most unwelcome surprise ruined the overall efficiency of the attack. A lone Taiidani Vanaar-Jet 'Super battleship'' was annihilating our forces from the safety of the Vaygr formation. The Nalthorans with their superior drive where doing everything they could to alt the monster, but to no avail. A bomber strike proved a complete failure.

I then decided to reroute my main force to an all-out assault on the Vannar-jet. The spearhead was to annihilate the Vaygr left flank after they punch trough the enemy lines, thus giving the Nalthorans a clean lin of fire on the Vanaar-Jet. The Relentless, the Agressors and the Nalthoran destroyers under my command will engage the Super battleship in a duel.

The plan worked and we engaged the Vanaar-jet in a close quarter slugfest. The Nalthorans circled like sharks around the battleship pumping missiles and led into the massive hull. The Agressors attack from the blind spot of the engine exhaust while the Relentless drew it's attention. The anti-matter torpedoes did a lot of damage, and we couldn't return the favor due to heavy protection, although the engines where disabled. The tide turned when my forces annihilated the left flank and the Nalthorans swarmed in. My Vanaar-jet attack force retreated with serious damage. The almost immobile Vanaar-jet was no match for the Nalthorans. When the starboard ammo hold exploded missiles after missiles where pumped into the now exposed guts of the behemoth. The ship was quickly disabled.

Then the Vaygr began to route trough a cloaked gate we didn't spot. It's curious why the Vaygr didn't reinforce their brethren an catch us by surprise, who knows. We swept the area for any survivors. My forces and the Nalthorans hold position near the gate in case any survivors try to make a escape. Admiral Seraphim, I heard, is performing some ''aggressive recon'' He should be contacting you shorty. The interference and battle damage are preventing us from sending a stronger singanl so I don't know when you will be getting this.

We commandeered several transports, and captured all but one suply depot. Preliminary reports indicate that they hold everything from Massi beam cans to Heavy kinetic projectiles tipped with tactical fusion devices. Logistics teams are on their way to secure the site with remote turrets, to repair ships and to try to repair the jumpgates if needed be. Hope you have luck in cleansing this system. I will hold my position untill the move order is given.

Sajuuks blessings to all.

My forces have engaged and destroyed a resource operation consisting of no less then sixteen resourcers, three controllers, and a Frigate/Carrier and some fighters. While I managed to rout the resourcers with no losses, the rest of the Vaygr Battlefleet is on to me and are retreating. Their Destroyers and Cruisers have already left, and their carriers are loading ships and prepping their drives.

I'm hurrying to intercept the CVs before they can leave, but I don't want to charge in there blindly. I've tagged a few straggling frigates with Hitchhiker drones and that should track their location once they exit hyperspace.

My forces and the Nalthorans are positioned in the dustclouds around the jumpnode. We have already nailed 4 frigates and 1 Assault Cruiser. They will most likely head for the Jumpgates and try to break trough. Admiral Seraphim is still in the area so he might also intercept them. Anyway I think the system is all but clear.
