Any chance in the next release we'll see a slight upgrade of the standard Imperator class fleet carrier? At its current state, popping one of those guys out and fully outfitting it costs more than a Haarsuk super carrier, which seems a bit ... off IMO. Relax, any chance we'll also get to see your fighter rebalancing (tbolt 4, LSF standardization) be implemented in the next release? |

*perk* Did someone say Bloodhound? Still here, bad car accident, broke my left hand. 70mph difference between their speed and mine, rolled + flipped car a few times. I got off light, they had no injuries except to their SUV. Haven't had a chance to try PDS in the last 3 months. Off work since the 8th and for another 3 weeks. Will try to play, but without my left hand I can't hit the shortcut keys as fast. 40wpm one handed isn't so bad... |

Relaxation: I have a huge amount of work to do at the moment so don't wait me for your next release. My PDS plans are progressing very slowly. Komo Val: I think those were experimented by Tel and not maintained when he moved to 7.2 - but my memory might betray me. Glacialis: a broken hand is not too bad after a car accident; best wishes for quick recovery! |

In responce to a recent shoutbox discussion, Relaxation has purposed to pimping up PDS online. Though inconsistancies between indavidual upgrades and personal tweaking must be resolved (PDS will only work online if the players have the exact same files), I think that this is the next frontier for PDS. I will gladly volunteer my services an a guinea pig in online testing whenever I am available and simply need notification of exact time time (Watsas exists in North American Pacific TZ). With this in mind, what can PDS do down the road with this? |

Well i think that the Al-khalid II becouse of it's inproved survivebility and becouse the Vaygr realy need a heavy battleship that can go toe to toe with the Deliverance should be inclouded. Also in the first post there's talk about new ships. I would realy like to see Apoc's Legion carrier optimised for PDS gameplay. Is that a posibility? |

That is excellent rebalancing imho. Exemplifies the original roles of strike craft and the cap ships for the two races and ties in very well with the fluff. |

Yes, i agree thats some excellent rebalancing. It makes the two sides more different which requires different strategies. Imagine a Vaygr flotila hunted by a Hiigaran wolfpack that slowly picking of key Vaygr elements. I cant wait. The Legion was part of the old Starshot Chronicles but the mod and the site is now dead. However it was discused as a Ellyssian Cv for unsung era in this thread (there is also a download link): http://www.pds.homeworldaccess.net/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=32&thread_id=639 Edited by Komo val on 30-09-2006 11:15 |

Excellent Relax. Its about time the player actually starts crying when they see an AlKhalid instead of laughing hysterically as their Deliverence pulls its pants down, greases it up and aims for penetration. I say dont phase out the older Thunderbolt versions because it looks like the Hiigarans are going to lose quite a lot of their heavy hitting power already. I personally have always found the older versions to be more useful because of their lighter weight. 8 squadrons attacking in conjunction with a few Bloodhouds for saturation purposes can quickly devastate the Vaygr fleet carriers. Less powerful than the MKIVs of course but also less unwieldly. Is the HGN or the HGNS getting the BBX? Edited by bandy019 on 03-10-2006 14:37 |

Quote Relaxation wrote:I particularly like my version of the Praetor - it's a homage to the Mercury-class battlestar (replaced the ion cannon batteries with Arbiter Mk 1J massdrivers, looks very Battlestar Galactica-ish in action). Of course, I've got my eye on balance and on the other hand the Deliverance is no more - one PDS member (thanks Bandy for helping me make up my mind - never liked the Hiigaran battlecruiser having the supremacy) has brought my attention to some of its more glaring unbalanced features and I've decided to remove it in favour of a more mobile and less overpowered Prince of Hiigara Tier V. Another change is the removal of the Hawk drone and the increasing of cap numbers for the Kite drone, and the removal of the Blade's heavy pulsar cannon. A sticking point I have at the moment is the Thunderbolts - should I phase out the older version and institute the Thunderbolt MKIV as the standard? Nooooooooo!!!! :yell: I love the Praetor just the way it is! No more Deliverance Hiigaran Battlecruiser, while increasing the power of the Vaygr equivalent? That will place the Vaygr at such an advantage that there is no way the Hiigarans can fend off any major assault. If anything, that would unbalance the game, and make it too easy for the Vaygr to crush my forces! I love those little Hawks too! Don't get rid of them! The old Thunderbolts too. Hiigarans need to keep a light bomber for harrassing lightly defended frigates and carriers, and that is the only thing that fits the bill. The Thunderbolt IV is too big and slow, and I prefer faster strike craft that can get into intense strafing runs and keep it up while evading most of the point defense. For that reason, I rarely even think of deploying the Thunderbolt IVs when I want heavy fighters, and pick the Avengers instead... All this is making the next version of the mod sound much less desireable. If this is implemented, I will not be upgrading. |

Whoa, Dominatus, listen: PDS isn't about balance. It evolves. If one release is unbalanced, you can bet that the next release will take steps to correct it. It's supposed to work like a real war. That said: all this talk of 'harrassment' and 'distraction' and 'flanking' and whatever that I see. Well, I haven't played the AI in a long time, but I know that it means absolutely nothing against human players. All that matters is the ability to destroy large groups of tightly packed enemy warships. That's how humans play: Somtaaw-style capital ship phalanxes, guarded by as many frigates and fighters as they can scrape together. I don't want 'harassers' when I see twelve fleet cruisers, two battle carriers, an Al-Khalid, and escorts coming my way. I want heavy bombers and some bloody capital ships of my own. I can 'flank' that combatant group all day, but it won't make it go away; I can try to strike their shipyard, but if it's a fast assault gametype (or, hell, if they've already maxed out their unit caps) it hardly matters. When all the fecal matter hits the rotary impeller, I don't need buzzwords, I don't want network-centric warfare or an integrated battlespace, I want tough, reliable, simple ships that work. This is war, not a Defense Department think tank. The single greatest problem with the game right now seems to be the weakness of Vaygr strike cruisers: they can't possibly stand against the HGN in a line engagement. "This is tactical control..."

Just pick and choose what parts you want to upgarde Dominatus. Dont change any of the ship folders that you like as is and just change up the building and research scripts a wee bit. By the way, any luck fixing the graphical problems you described in the other thread? Whats wrong with a Defense Department Think Tank? LOL just kidding. One of the perenial grunt favorites; If its stupid and it works, then it ain't stupid. Edited by bandy019 on 03-10-2006 15:59 |
