Okay, I have a few really simple questions: 1. Why can't I build multiple -really- big ships? 2. Why are all other ships so limited, too? I built 4 torp frigs, then they went red. I used to field them in swarms of 20 at least... I understand this is a mod, but hey: I like big strikegroups. 3. Is there any article, forum post or whatever detailing which "more complex tactics" should be used? Other than keeping ships close together to cover eachother and manuever to stop the enemy from shooting with as many turrets as possible, I really don;t get it... A friend of mine and I like to slug it out over LAN in pitched battles, usually with -extensive- fleets. PDS is a nice mod, but from the player vs computer match it appears that sending half a dozen supercruisers + escorts against eachother just won't happen... 2 of em appears to be too many already... |

The mods meant for more tactful encounters; if u want (and if your computer can handle it) just change the unit caps in the scripts. ![]() im a 1337 n00b

Yes, unit caps are easy to change. As for tactics, I would say it's mostly the way you let your units engage into the battle and then capital ship micro management. Try the first "Vaygr Campaign" level and the offensive counter SP scenario to see how that works. As for strategy, I think it is much more challenging to deal with limited forces, so that you have to make choices about fleet deployment (on maps that are big enough). But again nothing prevents you from pushing up the unit caps if you like massive battles. |

No problems here with massive fleet battles... if your computer can handle it. All the existing taskforce sized scenarios are the maximum practical limit in engagement size on my computer, so there is your benchmark. |
