I have deep respect for Israel's military prowess. And they trained my country's armed forces too back in the '70s. |

There's also manditory military service in that country. That means that the entire country is hard core. |

I'm not sure if "military prowess" is the correct word. Strategy can be an after thought when your equipment and technology out stripes any opponent of yours by decades. Israels bonus is thier ruthlessness and the worlds acceptance of it. |

Scary thing about Israel is the ads. Sometimes in american newspapers you see ads for free trips to Israel for people born there, but immigrated to america when they children. It's a ploy by the military, once you land on your 'free' trip, they scoot you off to basic, no matter how old you are. My father can't go back because of that, but his siblings can because they were born in different parts of Europe.

Yeah Israel is pretty freaky in their almost totally fascist society. I know, I know they are struggling constantly against evil terrorists and all that, and I guess they are exactly what their circumstances demand, but you would be pretty hard pressed to find a more nationalistic country in the world...haha try immigrating to Israel if you aren't a Jew and weren't born there to start with. The Zionists there have a lot of power it's pretty crazy, it reminds me of something you read in a sci-fi book you know? |

Jigga_what - give me a PM of explanation on your choice of words, or be banned sometime within the next week. That's enough chances given. I'm sure this community has been here long enough to know that I have no intention of this website and forum becoming something as disgusting as (example) Penny Arcade and other more... liberal societies. But on the other hand if you would be so kind as to RP that point of view using one of the PDSverse races as a base for proliferating the perspective then I would respect you as a capable writer and indeed I would indulge in said RP as well. I am surprised when my friend told me the mandatory service is not restricted to men. I am actually surprised why there are still armies. Nuclear weapons can level the entire planet more then once. That's because none of us humans are stupid enough to annihilate ourselves in a nuclear winter. Luckily those who are stupid enough don't have access to the means to cause such a catastrophe. |

It is a decidedly better observation than what jigga_what posted above. After all I am expressing open gratitude for those who have kept the peace and in doing so kept us all alive all this while - where indeed a button pressed at the wrong time can send the world's population (gradually) back into the Stone Age. But if nuclear winter were to break out tomorrow there isn't much point hating it anyway - since that would be a new reality I would have to adapt to so as to survive. No point trying to impose your personal rights and wrongs over that. So people like jigga_what (banned as of this morning for wanton incendiary posting) should really, learn to appreciate reality as it is. Unless of course you're paid to post as you are - by which point you could send me an email explaining that fact and I'll gladly reinstate your account since there is nothing wrong in making a living, is there  |

I dont think thats it. Look at the history of the jews, They are one of a very small number of contries that maintained its national identity WITHOUT an actual place for several centurys... The way i see it is that the jewish people were allway seen as the Outsiders in any place and because of that they were 'easy marks' for persicution. THe whole problem is after they were forced from their lands by the Romans and the subsequent roman collapse the Arabs moved into the vacume. It wasnt till after the war that England forcably recreated Israel and moved the Arabs off the land. This is how i see the crux of the matter 2 Diffrent people both have a claim to the same Land. One people was moved off the land a long time ago while the other was forced to make way for the returning group... Both partys are disatisfied with the results and hope to claim a larger amount of land for their people. Both unwilling to Agknoledge the other After that it becomes a mess of real politk and is lost to the extreamists on both sides of the line. |
