Addressed to: Fleet Development Re: Generation 2 weapons power systems and ship power grid. ---- Through the open table discussion of the Reactor modernisation initiative (RMI), and the logistics discussion on fleet fuel supplies, many strong results have come to light. -Point one is the new reactor creation (the M-E reactor) that now specifically powers all of a ships direct energy weapons, releaving the combat stress normally placed on the main ractor core(s) that were required to power engines, systems and weapons grids, occasionally resulting in faital overloads to a ships systems or reactor burn out. The advent of them M-E reactor has brought down the combat failure precentage in an assault friage to 0.00085% from 0.154% (based on intense combat engagements over 30 standard minues). -Point two is the resulting re-engineering of capital ship energy grid systems, and their weapons gird systems to provide a more continous flow of energy to the most combat critical system in a ship, and increasing the effectiviness of DEWs in prolonged engagements. Furthermore, the resulting addition of power from main reactor(s) has shown the potential to increase ship speeds. Potentially a capital ship has a higher internal capacity due to the removeal of now redundant sub main reactors. -Point three reflects on the expansion areas for fuel sources (primarily duterium and tritium). Although there has never been a shortage of these primarity fuel elements, for fusion, a small bi-product of the reaction has been in greater demand for the powering of M-E reactors. While the fusion reaction is not the primary source for M-E reactor fuel requirements, it is one that plays an assisting role. Planetary colonies and space outposts generate a fair yield of fuel for M-Es, and current labratory exparaments have brought light to more efficient designs of conventional fusion reactors to assist in generating more M-E fuel. Escentially at this point, the more conventional reactions that occur, the more fuel is gained for use in M-E reactors until a process can be better refined for the conversion of duterium or tritium into raw antimatter. In light of these points however, these paper theories have remained as thus; on paper. Although some DEW based ships have been refitted to operate under the new reactor and energy systems designs, they are not entirely using the potential that the new system comes with. The thought of a near entire DEW based ship, once a dream, is now potentially closer to a reality with these developments in technology. The system should at least be pushed further from meer concept to an exparametnal ship. The system should at least be viewed at full potential before becoming mothballed as past projects have been (BBX). But this project potentially requires less investment and hold a potentially higher return for its capabilities. ---- End Report. -Fear the Might of the Imperial Cortharian Fleet
