Notes: Theme is medieval art coupled to PDS images, since I was in that mood for whatever reason. I got a pile of medieval clipart from playing with old-style map graphics design and simply piled them onto the .psd template at 9-20% opacity for the collage effect. Original "mood" of the graphic was gold text on white background, this was later changed to the previous black from the NGCS ver.1 banner. Icon/faces overlay corresponds to a generic Hiigaran vs Vagyr TF battle. It also makes obvious reference to an online activity some of us are partaking, that will not even be mentioned here as it is not related at all to PDS and NGCS. Comment, or die. If it's not related, then why include it? Seriously. I think the original NGCS banner (the one behind these new additions) looked much better, and more proffesional. The current blend of images makes the overall appearence 'too busy' and the text is not easy to read The blend of medieval and futuristic space warefare.........hmmmm...it sends conflicting themes, and basically just doesn't work. (edit) The craft schematics look good though, but perhaps need a lighter opacity to blend into the background (assuming that the medieval stuff and 'other unrelated' material gets the flick). I am partial to it. There are improvements I see, but you want comments. I see it as being a bit graphically busy. Although the images are good, there are too overlapped and cramped, not making themselves as clear as they should. Also I'm not sure in it's current layout that it best reppresents the overall point of PDS or NGCS. (pls, don't merc me...) -Fear the Might of the Imperial Cortharian Fleet

Our present enjoyment in the realm of the "unrelated" is based on some aspects of the PDSverse and its evolution. Furthermore we -do- roleplay to make the PDS battlespace as realistic as possible. This in projects such as "RP2" and various battle AARs and fanfiction, we did attempt to transform into a formalised, full time affair but without a proper RP universe with an established ruleset it is a moot point. I'm adapting that tried and tested developmental doctrine for something else now. The feedback on clutter is duly noted but it is also quite deliberate, ie, fitting with the medieval art theme; same for the starkly contrasting colouration. As stated above I do prefer this banner as it represents better PDS and NGCS. A part of PDS is also based on ye olden times stuff mixed with some more up to date warfighting principles, hence the present theme. For example I always visualise the frigate wing as the cavalry arm of the fleet. Quote If it's not related, then why include it? Seriously. So think before you post one-liners like that. Things here are not as simple as 1 2 3. I don't exactly find any offense with that comment but needlessly questioning things can make things difficult in communications. From Professional to Angelfire in a heartbeat, I'm afraid. I too don't agree with including the whole medieval/elfish stuff, not only does it not mesh with the theme of this site (should a car forum include video game references in it just because some of it's posters play video games? I think not), but in my opinion, simple and elegant will beat busy and cluttered nine times out of ten. If you wanted the banner to represent PDS and NGCS then you don't need to overdose on some hidden themes. I like the effort in trying to add some new flair to the site, but I cannot agree with the execution at all.:thumbdown: |

There are elements in that banner that I find strange, but that is also due to my lack of RPG experience. I assume those would be the dragon and the portrayed characters. All of them.  I find it a bit hard to assimilate that banner as being representative of a game made from the Homeworld 2 engine/universe. The selected font does not make it easier. However, the ship layout and the effects applied to them makes a very good impression and is nicely done. But I miss the ships "manufactured" by the PDS/NGCS team among them. Furthermore I also miss a clearer Gundam representation. That layer behind Vagyr ships is very faint.  king-o'da'bigfile

Is there a possibility of having memebers take all the images and elements in that banner and give a shot at re-creating it. This is in the idea of generating more layout ideas, or at least adding a little more clarity to what's already there.

I suggest you people rethink your comments, because I have a serious problem with it. Comments consist of two important things: your opinion and why. If you can't fulfill both of these things, then please refrain from posting. Merely stating "it sucks" insults the person who did it and is not helpful. |

I mean it doesn't make any sense. What does it have to do with truescale, semi-Newtownian space combat at all? Not that it's bad in genral, it's just... uhhh... I'm at a loss for words here.
