No offense to anyone but I think the battle chatter voices of the PDS mod need to be changed. Although they were meant to bring more depth and realism to the mod I think they did the opposite. For one they are to loud. But if they told me something useful such as "The mothership is sustaining damag" that would be more than acceptable. They just repeat to me what I just told the ship to do. They also are missing the backround static fuzz that the HW2 voices have. But by far the biggest problem is that they are far to high pitched. When they play I don't see a gruff Hiigaran/Vaygr radio officer. I see instead a 16-24 year-old with a slightly high pitched voice talking into a mike. Once again no offense, I have a slightly high pitched voice. So far I have no solutions but I wanted to address that. I will spend time tommorow looking for some. Also if any one knows tell me what type of sound file they are. Once again no offense to the people who recorded the Battle Chatter.

After doing such a recommendation, as many others did, you should do your own. If not, organize a group of people capable of doing something you've suggested, and show some work for it. As far as the PDS team's responsibility to up voice acting, it is purely voluntary. So if we have no 50 year old men gruffing it up the mic, then we have none to display. Off you go now. :whip: |

You made your point (valid, btw). Now, get me some action, or do you need some proper motivation? |

I'll start looking for some people to record. But first I need to know what kind of file they are. Either of you know? |

Check this out: http://hw2.tproc.org/wiki/TutorialImp...mportSound It's a .wav file converted by the Relic .aifr encoder and then manually renamed as .fda PS by the way, I served with a few guys who did not exactly sound like John Wayne when issuing orders and anything is better than the HW2 stock voices that seem to come out of a 1950-ish BBC documentary about the Royal family

Well some of the voices are from 46 year old gruff types... although post service lack of proper motivation has induced soft midsections ![]() |

Thnx for the awesome post Sun Tzu. While I was in shool I worked up some rough drafts of what they're gonna say. I divided Battle Chatter into a couple catagories: 1. Alarms 2. Damage Report 3. General Chatter 4. Fighter Squadron Chatter 5. Repeat Command 6. Construction Notification I need to go out and buy a mike still, but thnx to Sun Tzu I may get this done. If you want to contribute record something and send it to me at If I think your a suitable applicant I'll contact you. Edit: To Sun Tzu, I actually want to get that kind of 50's BBC sound. They're voices are neutral because Radio operators have to keep their cool. And as said by Tel I believe each Km in the game represent some 1,000 or 100,000 km so who knows what it might sound like. Would it sound the same? Or would it sound distorted. Would they want to talk in low quality sound because they need computing power for their PDs system? Reguardless ( I bet I spelled that wrong ) that's the kind of sound I want.Edit: In my first post I said I thought it was useless that they repeat the command to me. After mulling it over a bit I thought it was useful and I decided to add it to the list. Edited by EvilTediz on 18-12-2005 19:04 |

I would like to see a finished product. Not sig tests or any banter that doesn't lead to the achievement of the above. How you do it is up to you. Do note the actual demographic of World War 2 soldiers and aviators. "Old farts" make up a relatively small number in the frontline forces. Edited by TelQuessir on 14-12-2005 03:03 |
