I last played PDS at 4.9 (I think...) and I really appreciated it being packed in a BIG archive, because I have several different mods installed for HW2. I'm just curious as to why the team has decided to go with a simple ZIP extract-to-folder format. |

Personally I prefer this current method - it allows much more user-friendly modifications, like I do constantly. It also is much easier to update - no need to download another 122 MB file for one tiny update, just download the folders and stick it in the right spot.

I suppose what I should have asked is, would it be possible for you to release it in both fashions? I am currently looking into doing it myself, but the download links on RDN don't seem to work anymore. |

PDS 7 will be released as BIG file in a cuple of days. It gives smaller filesize and and some claim better performance. It will however not be that easy to upgrade, Daniel is correct there. That is why I will provide the tools to extract the big file, add updated files, and repack it. ETA Monday. |

A big file? great! @Homeboy: A mac-compatible version of the .big would be even greater (for us who don't have anything like a big extractor/packager). I can try to do it if nobody feels like it inthe dev team (I have a "normal" computer at work), but would need your help to upload it somewhere. |

BIG-file released as a standalone setup using WinRar advanced scripting. BETA Download here, I just want to have some feedback before I announce it more extensively. Link removed since another one has been announced 62.8 MB. I also know there is a small typo in the left graphic in the Setup Dialogue but we should make a proper 100wx250h graphic for that one. Sun Tzu: If You want to use www.hwaccess.net for HTTP upload it might be done that way. Otherwise i have an account at FileFront. Your choice. Both are HTTP and thus slow. I PM You details of another FTP you might use, I have several... Edited by Homdax on 19-10-2005 16:25 |

I have updated the file, taking in to better consideration the default installation path of the game, which is: C:\[Program Files]\Sierra\Homeworld2 The reason I put Program Files enclosed with [] is that it varies between languages. In swedish it is C:\[Program] in danish C:\[Programfiler] and in spanish C:\[Archivo de Programas], if I remember correctly. Fortunatly, that is a Windows definition and the Setup Script identify it correctly between languages. Edited by Homdax on 17-10-2005 14:24 |
