I dont know if its possible in the game code or not but would it be possible to somehow enable us to manually control when the missle salvos launch? I know i see opportunities where a salvo would do a great deal of damnage, or times when the launching of several ships missles at once would certainly be beneficial. It should be possible with a command, perhaps the unused deploy mine command. You could fire the missles and then after a set amount of time you can fire them again. It would be even better if you were able to choose whether you wanted the missles to fire automatically or manually. I dont know if this will fit into the current PDS universe as it would take away from the simulation of fleet control. Just thought Id share an idea that ive had for quite some time..... |

That would be a double-edged sword. Allowing manual control of weapon systems means that the AI will be short on firepower unless recoded to use them. |

Isn't this already essentially implemented with the shipyards, in a sense? They won't automatically fire back with all of their weapons when attacked... or at least it looks that way.

given as some of the furballs get tremendously thick, it would be a task of monumental proportions to manually control missle salvos. Use waypoints and F4...I have found the results to be more than adequate.

Well how do the AIs handle the use of minelaying in the code? Could this be adapted somehow? I dont want to seem like im beating a dead horse but Im just asking questions I dont know the answers to. |

I believe that the rest of us in this thread will be sick of answering each and every observation you have if this goes on. AI support for minelayers is non-existent in the release version of HW2. If your ideas were viable to implement, I would have replied in a positive fashion in my first post in this thread. Or the feature for manual fire control implemented a long time ago. Quote what about just giving the player control of one battery of missles? leave most of them up to the AI......ofc i dont know how this will work for Enemy AI ships This, by the way, should not be posted until you think in-depth into the issue. It -can- be a worthwhile feature to implement. Ever thought of the how - without infringing into combat performance of AI ships? Otherwise, knowing that you're providing an unfair advantage and still going ahead, is an unacceptable proposition. You will learn to have the sense to take any "ideas" you have directly to me via PMs so we can discuss them and so I can fill in your doubts, and not run around in circles in the forums. This discussion is over. |
