When I learned of the practical cancellation of the PDS Galaxy manual, I decided to make a lesser, unofficial, manual to hold us over until work is resumed on PDS. Currently all it is is an off line reinterpretation of this thread, unfortunately. It is very limited because I wanted to get this version out, so I had to "prune" a lot of informal posts, in order to keep it an actual manual rather than an off line discussion. It is also incomplete, due to the fact that I myself just copied and pasted and didn't get around to actually writing anything yet. In newer versions, I hope to: -Scour the site for anything of interest, formalize it, and put it in. e.x. discussions of tactics, technologies, more fleet organization -Create actual entries for at least v11 and v7.3.X ships, including photos. e.x. an entry and picture for the deliverance (7.3.X), Bloodhound MK4 (v11) -Finish faction entries. We don't even have Higaraa or the Vaygr. -Finish and organize weapons and ships entries -With end result, compile into a pdf file ---- I tried to include credits at the end of each document, but forgot sometimes, so if I missed you and you actually care, let me know. If you want to write anything for it, by all means, claim it here (so we don't have any duplicates) and do it. Well, I hope you guys enjoy the several hundred pages that was created by these guys. And the fact that you have it in a semi-convenient zip file now. DL here: PDS |

Very good initiative. I'll take a look after work. |

Yeah, this would be great. A lot of people don't play PDS just because they can't be bothered to learn it. |

Looked. It would be nice accompaniment to a bottle of fine Romulan ale but contains lots of outdated information and things I wouldn't even glance at when it comes to official PDS information. Still, great effort collecting all the relevant data! |

I did realize that some of the information old, but a lot of it is currently filler and will either be replaced(i.e. the galaxy map) or flagged as old. Other than the stuff that is specifically stated in the source thread as old, I'm unsure of what is obsolete, so if you see anything while perusing it let me know. In addition to that, it looks like I failed to mention in the first post, but as you can infer by Tel's post, this is more of an I'm-bored-so-I'll-read-this-fluff manual. The main reason that I'm into reading these things is the HW:C manual. I never got to read the HW1 manual, but I loved the ship pages and race history in the HW:C manual and felt that HW2 lacked a lot in this area, even considering size limitations. In other words, "unofficial" might be too weak a word to describe this. Manual might be wrong, too, as this is meant to be strictly enjoyment, and not necessarily a development and/or gameplay guide. It hust wouldn't be bad to include data from various eras as opposed to just modern or past. Edited by TheSizzler on 07-12-2007 21:17 |

I will just state this plainly. This is a gross misrepresentation of what PDS is. |

You're obviously right: 1) PDS is practically dead. This isn't. If this literally was an accurate interpretation of what PDS is, it would technically have to be as dead as PDS. But I know what you mean. 2) As (poorly) stated in my second post, this isn't meant to accurately represent PDS. It's supposed to be reading material on a subject that I like. This material may or may not be in accordance with canon PDS. 3) All of the material here came from either the PDS forum itself, or somewhere that was directly linked to on the forum. All I did was compile it (as said in the first post). 4) These "text documents" are to PDS as non-canon star wars books are to the star wars movies. They're okay to read as long as you keep in mind they're not actual parts of the universe. |
