Subject: Sucessful engagement of enemy fleet

Location: HN Willamatte CVH-68, Daimond Asteroid Field, Ezra Shanir system

To make things short, I have sucessfully engaged the Enemy position and destroyed several enemy capital ships with moderate casualties of my own. And while the picture isn't clear yet, this is still a tactical victory, as the enemy's main assault has been blunted.

However many of my ships are damaged and several were lost, and the BattleBarge, while critically (if not terminally) damaged managed to hyperspace away. While we're still recovering from the Chaos of the engagement and are still getting reports in, I have managed to put together an AAR outlining the main thrust.

CASUALTIES: Moderate, HN Loa KIA, Numerous Strikecraft lost (number unconfirmed due to communications stress), many more damaged, All heavy capital ships sustained varying degrees of damaged, HN Willamatte sustained glancing blow from high energy particle weapon, topside superstructure heavily damaged

ENEMY CASUALTIES: Nearly all enemy craft destroyed, only the Battle barge confirmed to have escaped

TASK FORCE STATUS: Damged but in fighting condition. Currently regrouping and beginning sweep of area

My force opened up with my heavy battleships assaulting with a coordinated barrage to break up the enemy fighter screen, closely followed by Strategic Interceptor sorties against the enemy destroyers. As the SDIs were engaging the targets, the Majiirians began moving to surround the enemy force and bombard the Battle barge from multiple angles.

The Haruna and it's supporting frigates were tasked with breaking up the enemy line of battle, which came quickly given the speed of our ambush. However, the enemy fighter screen and a few of the frigates managed to take potshots and do minor damage.

Then, they finally managed a dedicated counterattack on the Vancouver, with numerous bombers supported by the BattleBarge's guns. At this point, a screen of LSFs managed to form an ad hoc fighter screen while my Avengers were covering the Loa and it's attendant strike packages. The strike fighters took heavy casualties, but managed to hold the line.

After this, the battle descended into all out chaos. The Loa was destroyed by the battlebarge's forward battery, while it's escorting Lavis tried to supress the barge's forward guns. With nearby fighters flying about in circles evading, strafing, bombing, etc. The Barge then turned on the Willamatte, grazing our topside before it's beams overloaded. This caused us to go to emergency stations and fall back.

The bombardment continued, with the battlebarge firing another beam at the Kelsaetiu, causing heavy damage to it's ventral SBAs. However, by this point the Barge's main batteries were in ruins and it was beginning to succumb to beam and gun fire. Apperently, it decided enough was enough and hyperspaced out (we currently don't know how it overcame the nebula's hyperspace dampening effects).

After this, my group continued to sweep the area while we repaired the damage and maintained a CAP.

It is presumable that the BattleBarge is heading to the staging area. If so, it is imperative you take it over before it get's there. If it does, you are to finish it off. It should be damaged to the point of nonfunctionality. Still, be on guard.

My forces will keep on guard while my most damaged ships return to SY-30 for repairs.

Subject: Enemy forces destroyed.

I am pleased to inform command that TF 289 has routed the opposition in our sphere of operations. However, due to an unexpectedly large enemy presence our drives have been overloaded and our engine cowlings destroyed, so the Sabre will be out of action for a day before we can get back to SY-30.

AAR Follows-

Forces Committed: TF 289 (JTF 56)
Arelian Defender HN Sabre, D-IIFM-24
Prince of Hiigara HN Surprise, BCE-93
Arcadia HN Knight, ACV-76
Linebacker HN Unseen, ECWF-756
2x Thunderbolt Bomber Wings (Aboard HN Surprise)
6x LSF-II Squadrons (Aboard HN Knight)

Forces Engaged:
1x Kaghan Fleet Carrier
2x Al-Moudamer CL
At least 6 fleet frigates
Fighter escort (unknown but extensive)
Unknown fighter bombers
Unknown corvettes

Losses:
HN Sabre- drive systems no longer functional
HN Surprise- topside beam damage, several subsystems and turrets destroyed
HN Knight- nebula grade sensors destroyed by enemy guided missiles
Fifteen fighters and three bombers lost to enemy action.

Enemy losses:
Everything except for one Al-Moudamer, which managed to jump away despite being crippled

With the co-ordinates supplied by Admiral Watsas, I was able to approach slowly with sensors disabled. At a range of 30 kilometres, I ordered the capital ships to slow and take up positions around a large (several kilometres across) asteroid moon, reasoning that our moderately sized ships would be hidden by its bulk and we would be invisible to enemy sensors. At twenty kilometres I gave the order to attack, ordering the Surprise and Knight to emerge and move rapidly to attack the enemy fleet, scrambling fighters as they did so. When they were within primary weapons range I ordered the Surprise to launch its bombers, and the Knight to fall back and provide supporting fire. With the enemy's attention drawn to these ships, I moved the Sabre around the other side of the moon and began to close to weapons range. At approaching standoff range, the enemy spotted my ship, so I powered up the target aquistion suite and ordered the Unseen to jam the enemy sensor nets. They had moved their Al-Moudamers to engage the Surprise, so their carrier was unguarded, and I was able to cripple it before enemy fighters reached me. My ship was engaged by a type of fighter and some corvettes of a type I have never seen before, and it was these that crippled my engines and overloaded my reactor. I was able to get off another salvo to help finish off an Al-Moudamer before the powering down of non-critical systems took the target aquistion suite offline, at which point i ordered the gunners to use the integrated mount firing computers to engage individual targets. The gunners performed admirably, and were able to destroy several enemy craft before fighter reinforcements from the Knight arrived to finish off the Vaygr.

I read with concern that the battle barge may be headed for SY-30, and so I am sending the Knight and Surprise to help defend it, taking two intact squadrons of LSFs and the Thunderbolts with them. As for me, I've got the Unseen to hide me and enough fighters left for a CAP. I will be there as soon as I can, I only hope it's not too late. Out.

Subject: 'Staging area' clear

Location: HN Relentless II CVHA-28 Vaygr staging area above Larik Planetoid, Ezra Shanir system

I'm happy to add another victory to this glorious streak by reporting successful clearance of the Vaygr rally point. However this is only a moderate achievement as the bulk of the Vaygr forces was not there.

Admiral Seraphim is currently stalking what appeared to be the Vaygr forces moving out. I'm confident we'll receive the news of his victory shortly, once the Vaygr forces are destroyed.

Furthermore the Battlebarge wasn't at the rally point. Our speculation is that the Vaygr forces moved out to se3cure the BaBa's position as it's hyperdrive most likely failed because of battle damage. The other pessimistic option is that the BaBa hyperspaced out-system an the Vaygr forces are preparing a counterattack. AAR follows:

TASK FORCE STATUS: Sweeping the area

At 2234 hours the forces of me and Admiral Seraphim arrived at the edge of the Gravity field created by the Larik planetoid where the particle density was still high enough to mask our presence. With the support of the Nalthoran sensor ships we determined the presence of the Vaygr forces. However we where intrigued by the apparent lack of protection. Apparently the Vaygr where confident that they wouldn't be detected near a magnetic and gravitational displacement like that in a system littered with radiation.

The Quantum detection array (QDA) revealed hyperspace activity and, since the ships where deep inside the planet's Gravity Well, we determined the ships used the hyperspace gate network.

We began our approach under full stealth mod with Adm. Seraphim's forces on point. We where making good progress when an energy spike from a yet unknown source revealed our position (we assume it was sabotage, investigation under way).

Launching decoys and attack drones to pull the Vaygr forces into disarray we continued with drives at full power. The Nalthorans pinpointed the exact gate used, soon it was under our control and Admiral Seraphim proceeded to enter it and pursue the Vaygr forces.

I began the assault, however due to the early warning they manged to descend into low orbit as to be provided cover by the installation they had on surface. The Dominator manged to disable the engines on one of the shipyards an it was quickly destroyed. This gave time to he Vaygr to enter geostationary orbit over the heavily armed installation.

We proceeded on a standard assault pattern, with one difference, it was aimed to break up the Vaygr formation so our Strategic interceptors can take out the surface weapon platforms. The attack went smoothly enough until our Aggressor formation was broken up by the 'War Maiden' class battlecarrier launching missiles, drones and fighters. The first strikecraft assault was inafective due to the simple fact that the hanger bay was obviously upwards and not down (which our sensors didn't detect due to heavy jamming from the said ship). The concentrated fire of the Capital phalanx however did wonders and the ship was quickly disabled and scuttled by the Vaygr giving our Cutlasses the chance to strike the installation.

While the Aggressors secured a bridgehead the strategic interceptors moved trough the gap. By this time the Vaygr force was only a shadow of it's former self. Although the Interceptors didn't managed to complete all of their objectives, the impact was not hard. The space forces was destroyed and the installation was given an ultimatum. After they declined the Relentless and the Dominator began surface sterilization protocols. The Dominator sustained moderate damage from planetary fire.

We are currently sweeping the area for any stragglers or survivors. Ambush points have been set-up on the outskirts of the planetary Gravity well and the hyperspace network remains opened for business to facilitate friendly movement in the system and in hopes of catching some Vaygr flies in our net.

Let our future hunts be fruitful as this one.

Subject: Reinforcement arrival

Location: SY-30 Manaan, HN staging area, Ezra Shanir system

Well, it seems STRATCOM decided to send me a little birthday present yesterday; Admaral Ko'malak and the HN reinforcements have finally arrived. We are now the proud owners of 5 L-X-30 light battleships, and one Revelation class battleship. Several support ships were included in the TF and We should be set from here on out.

Ko'malak has also brought elements of the legendary 'Shur'tai'na Order', for those that haven't read the works of Nalthor's ancient warrior-poets, the Shur'tai'na are an order of warrior monks decendant from the very genoration of Nalthorans that founded the first unified government and have had a presence across the Nalthoran armed services since then. The Shu'tai'na in question are experianced Nebula fighters and know this type of environ much better then we do.

Currently, the Nalthoran fleet is making their way Via the hyperspace gates to your (Nabaal + Seraphim) positions and will then begin space patrols. They are also going to set up a Hyperspace gate of their own, one large and powerful enough to allow our Shipyard to pass. However, construction will take some time and given my fleet's damaged state, we are in no condition to move.

One thing I need you to do is to locate a forward staging area for the Shipyard to park at. Ko'malak's force is going on the offensive, so I'd like you to find and secure a forward base.

We've also begun combat mining operations in the sector for these Daimonds, but we're still having problems. The Daimonds themselves don't have a lot of use to us at the moment, as 1: our foundries can't process them, 2: all we get out of them is pure Carbon, 3: We have plenty of Carbon, and 4: we need heavy metals and H-fuel more then anything.

That means you are to also start searching the area for valuble resoucre deposits. Cpt Lynham, I'll entrust this task to you. I need you to proceede to Nabaal and Seraphim's position and start looking for any useful resource pockets. If you find anything, relay the information to us.

Another thing, Cpt Lynham. I'm assigning elements of the 56th TSOG to your force. Specifically, the light carrier HN Depoe Bay, it's fighter wing and a group of Ion cannon frigates and strategic missile frigates. I can replace the frigates should you need more, but the Depoe Bay is too valuble to lose and cannot be replaced.

Also, I'm giving Admaral Seraphim two of my L-X-30's (HN Valarie BL-71 and HN Northstar BL-72) and the Revelation BBX (HN-Perdition BBX-02) as his force is the most understocked. As well, he will also get the Marquess CVL HN Newport CVL-116 and it's fighter wing, plus a small group of Wolf class frigates and Linebacker HESP craft.

The other two L-X-30's are being put under Admaral Nabaal's command, with the final one assigned as a fleet escort for my fast attack contingent. Hopefully, we can spread out some superior firepower incase the Vaygr pull something crazy out of their pocket. I hope you've all read up on the combat briefing regarding the L-X-30 and Revelation BBX.

Watsas, out.

Subject: Situation update

Location: HN Relentless II CVHA-28, Former Vaygr staging area above Larik Planetoid, Ezra Shanir system

Sector sweep is complete, and patrol duties are assigned. Early today the Nalthoran convoy carrying the Hyperspace gate and the construction team has arrived to my position as well as the two L-X-30's. Marvelous ships, I must admit.

I'd like to request the Revelation BB be temporarily assigned to the Archaeological team due to the dramatic fall of enemy activity in this system and since it's the only ship that can withstand such high amounts of radiation. The Task would be to tug the relics out of the radiation pocket in which the relics are located. The Archaeological team assures me that the task would require maximally 2 days. Since sending a message to Admiral Seraphim would compromise his position, I couldn't send him the request.

Further more the saboteur has been placed in custody. It appears to be a member of the 'Path Of Sajuuk' a fanatic movement that supports the Vaygr. He will be put on a Transport exiting the system ASAP.

As for the diamonds, maybe suet up a trading outpost on the edge of the system or somewhere where the radiation is low enough. It would grant us access to additional resources as well as public support because we're also do something productive with the conquered systems besides turning them into battlegrounds.

Subject: Taiidani presance in the area

Location: SY-30 Manaan, HN forward staging area, Orbit of Larik planetoid, Ezra Shanir system

Several forward patrols from my fleet and admaral Ko'malak's force have begun picking up transmissions, radiation discharges, and encountered several patrol ships apperently of Imperial Taiidan origin. It seems that with the destruction of the main Vaygr force, the Taiidan are starting to deploy forward recon elements.

We belive that they're shadowing our patrols and calculating our flight trajectories and force deployments, and preparing for action against us. However, I highly doubt a full frontal assault, as the Taiidan are probably well aware of what happened to the Vaygr fleet and their Battle Barge.

We should expect Taiidan raids on strategic targets like resource operations and scout fleets in an effort to whittle us down. Now, the Taiidan can afford to stay in Ezra Shanir for a while, but we cannot. The Vaygr forces in Ostana seem to be preparing fortifications, and the Ostana region is strategically vital as both a forward fleet base and supply position for our operations in the far eastern theatre.

I'm putting priority on locating the Taiidan base of operations, which is likely a supercarrier or shipyard. However, I suggest we come up with new tactics for doing this, given the Taiidan have far greater martial capabilities then the Vaygr in this area. Thus, we should try to maintain the advantage in numbers, but not charge blindly into a fight. We simply don't know what they are currently capable of... or what they're up to.

Be vigilant.

Subject: Regarding Taiidani presence

Location: HN Relentless II CVHA-28, Former Vaygr staging area above Larik Planetoid, Ezra Shanir system

This is getting complex. I don't like dealing with the Taiidani, maybe because they're as tactically proficient as we are, or because they are technologically equal to us, or maybe it's just their anti-matter missiles that worry me.

Either way they made a probing attempt on my flank. A DESRON consisting of 2x Skaal-Fa IIIc Ant-matter missile carrier, 2x Skaal-Tel IVa Assault destroyers, 4x Spahi-III Frigates and something else. Most likely a cruiser, but it stayed well hidden.

They fired a few rounds manged to get 1x Bloodhound and 1x Patcom and then they disappeared. Probably trying to see our reaction time and force composition.

Anyway I don't think the shipyard will be safe on this position. So we either find a new location or use it as a bait.

I agree that we should make haste, thus I propose the bulk of Allied force circles around the system and gets to their rear. And I will reinforce this position with the help of joint Hiigaran and Nalthoran logistic teams. I sustained the least damage and my fleet is in best condition.I know it's risky, but we must reach Ostana before those fortifications become fully operational.

Subject: Fleet Movements

Location: SY-30 Manaan, High Orbit, Larik Planetoid, Ezra Shanir system

Well, the Taiidan seem to be busy around here. But I think we may have a lead on a possible location of what we belive to be a large Fleet Carrier (Presumably a Basul-Re Class CVHA with mild escort) hiding in a molecular cloud near planet Colo. This carrier probably has an escorting wing consisting of frigates and an old (aux) heavy cruiser, based on Taiidan deployment strategies.

However, most of the Taiidani forces consist of light fast attack cruisers of Vanir-Tel (Rogue Fencer) class and several refitted Qwaar Jet class cruisers that we belive have been fitted with short range direct fire armarments and deployed in hunter-killer pairs. Presumably, there are one or several Vana-Cho (Lone Ranger) class light carriers providing air cover and constructing autonomous turrets and laying nuclear mines. This is largely based on what we think standard Imperial doctrane is under the circumstances, however this is backed up by what intermittant sensor pings we have recived in the past few days.

I'm extending the fleet's patrol envalope 'northwest' towards planet Colo, to a point about 4 AU from the presumed Taiidan staging area. I've also ID'ed an area that would make a great forward assembely point of our own near another molecular cloud. However, we should not try advancing yet. But we should start trying to flank the Imperial positions to cut their supply lines. However, we should practice superiority in numbers, as that is the best way to disperportionalise the Taiidan's advantage.

Meanwhile, I am going to take my main force behind Planet Larik and skirt the system to a position where I belive I can set up for a strategic Pincer move. Once we've sustained tactical superiority, Admaral Seraphim will head in as the northern pincer with Nabaal and Ko'malak heading the centerline. This should overwhelm the Taiidan position and force them to retreat, however I don't want to risk a head on confrentation unless absolutely nessiscary.

Remember, our main advantages at this point are Strikecraft: The Taiidan Carrier is too far away to provide a full CAP, and the Lone Rangers' are incapable of carrying sufficient numbers of tactical fighters or assault corvettes to combat us.

Numbers: The Taiidan are heavily outnumbered and probably won't risk being overwhelmed, so we should keep our fleets together to maximise this advantage.

Terrain: Past instances (Gardens of Kadesh, Kadiir Nebula, Cushan Barrier etc) have shown that the Taiidan have been historically disadvantaged when in nebula warfare. And while we are little better, the Presance of the Nalthoran Sensor ships and Elite Shur'tai'na batallions should maximise our offensive capabilities.

Due to a large ion storm that has only just lifted, I was unable to transmit our status. We found three days ago large desposits of surface raw materials and metal ores which we have now for the most part finished extracting. Obviously, this is a large asteroid belt, but the mining fleet commander insists we only need 36 more hours, maximum. I have my fighters running constant long range CAP, and the Surprise and my own ship have debarked to a distance from the operation in order to form a sensor picket. The Unseen and Knight are with the miners, and due to the sensor interference from the surrounding nebula, the Unseen's sensor masking gives 100% coverage until you are within forty kilometres. Nobody's finding us unless we go looking for them. Out.

We'll patrol the western border of the Carriers CAP. We'll keep this up until Admiral Watsas moves in position. Subject: Possible Incoming Attack Force

Location: HN Willamette CVH-68, Mid Rim, Ezra Shanir System

Based on data my long range probes picked up, there may be a Taiidani force heading into the area, likely consisting of a small group of Cruisers and Destroyers, with a Cruiser-Carrier escorting and providing strikecraft support. We belive this force is going after our carriers, though they have not detected us and we are out of engagement range of them.

I'd like Admaral Nabaal to intercept this TF before it can breach our perimiter patrols and do any harm. This force's exact capabilities re not known at this time, but it seems to be lass then 14 ships that we can detect. However, there may be more outside our sensor envalope, so I'd suggest a full recon before committing to an assault.

Also, I'd like a message relayed to Admaral Seraphim. I'd like him to return to the Shipyard for a special assignment. Specifics won't be transmitted until he responds, for security purposes.

Roger that. Preliminary scans indicate same force composition. Nalthoran Sensors ship An'Li'e in route to secure scanning location. From there we should be able to scan and intercept the attack force.

They most probably anticipate me and Admiral Ko'malak brake up our formation. So they can engage us on equal grounds, however since they don't know we have supperior sensor capacity we'll have a little surprise for them.

Subject: Resource transfer complete, moving out

Location: SY-30 Staging area

The civilian ships have finished transferring resources, and so I am moving my TF back to combat operations. The civilians are happy to stick around SY-30 until they are needed further, so I am currently en route to Admiral Watsas' position, out.

I'd like to relay a message from Admaral Ko'malak. His unit is maintaining emmission silence to try and ambush an enemy scout cruiser. He told me to inform you that one of his recon ships found a number of de-activated and unmanned fighters parked near several dust pockets in the far side of the sector. The ships were mostly Vaygr, probably survivors from the recent battle, but were powered down awaiting activation.

I've seen this before, during the Battle at Well's Hole. What I belive is that the Vaygr-Taiidan have a number of squadrons of de-activated fighters, all fueled up and ready to go, parked and offline. They'll wait for us to pass, then sneak a shuttle in and have pilots board the fighters and activate them, allowing them to ambush our forces from behind.

I suggest that if you should encounter anything like this, to booby trap the fighters or destroy them on sight. However, should you encounter any advanced Taiidani ships parked in this way, you should tow them back to base for analisys. Be warned, there were some automatic RWS platforms nearby, and that may be the case elsewhere. If you encounter any of these parked ships, watch out for traps, hidden weapon platforms, or mines. Also be on the lookout for any fighter squadrons coming out of nowhere, as there's always the chance we can miss something.

Roger that, we'll be on a look out for these fighters. I have to admit it those Taiidani are sneaky bastards.

Anyways I'm prepared to neutralize that attack force. Whit any luck you'll have an AAR by tomorrow morning.

I'm about 5AU from the clear space that surrounds the Larik planetoid, and the Unseen has picked up intermittent suspicious long-range contacts. I'm going to investigate, will proceed with caution. Out.

ENEMY CASUALTIES: All Capital Ships Destroyed, Unconfirmed number of srikecraft, presumably high.

TASKFORCE STATUS: On it's way to the randevu point

We intercept the Taiidani Attack force on mark in a dense particle cloud littered with asteroids that occupies a good portion of the 12th Quadrant. Unfortunately for the Taiidani this is both the quickest way and the stealthiest. Having the advantage of terrain which negated the Enemy's primary advantage-speed and superior intelligence gathering potential I decided to strike.

At 2020 hours the First recon squadron made contact with the enemy. Shortly afterwards they conducted a close-in sweep with drone cover. After ''painting'' the ships the Relentless began massdriver and missile bombardment of targets, as to minimize emissions with the I'vod'thor was ready to provide cover if needed be. As the Fighters, most notably the Cutlass class strategic interceptors, performed strafing runs. The reverse-engineered anti-matter torpedoes did wonders against the Taiidani, proving the old Kharakian saying ''Fight fire with fire''. After sustained Fighting the starboard picket flank was totally destroyed giving a clear run on the cruiser-carrier. Although we sustained more casualties (confirmed) from that attack than in the entire operation, a total of 7, the Cruiser-carrier was eventually destroyed. Meanwhile a unsuccessful Needleboat attack was performed upon the Relentless, however given the lack of maneuvering room the attack ended in a bloodbath on their side, with only one hit on my flagship.

As their morale begun to crumble the battle was practically won. Besides the destruction of the Attack force we found 14 prisoners with one captain which seems to be collaborative as he states he is from Republican origin. Still o sine of those deactivated fighters, though i seriously hope to sore some of those new Triikors the intelligence has been talking about, although that is doubtful. But at least a Legionnaire corvette.

Good hunting to everyone!
