Very simple (and possibly stupid [if so, come right out and tell me]) question, What exactly is a Hiigaran Line Combat Division (I.E. 225th LCD, 501st LCD, etc)? What unit compisition does it have? What general role does it play in a strategic/tactical engagement? How many are in active service with the HGN? What is the Vaygr equivelent if they have one? How are they deployed in comparison with other HGN/HGNS units? |

mmm... I would have to assume they are sub-units of numbered Fleets. Like 501st LCD / 15th Fleet. I had been under the impression that the HGN used Task Forces and specified force groups (like a Fleet Reconnaissance Force) in PDS'verse. But that may be old stuff... |

I thought that they were units comprised mostly of lineships (Arbiters) with a few support ships. |

"Line" type units relate to HW1 and more specifically, HW:C destroyer and heavy cruiser doctrine. You get a squadron of them together in a phalanx formation and pretty much physically bash through whatever is in front of you. It's still a good tactic with 'modern' post-invasion starships (see V11 beta 2), until you meet Vaygr strategic bombardment ships (in V11 beta 3 that you don't have, yet) which are able to outmaneuver and outgun the ponderous armoured cruisers with ease. Just build 3 LiirHra fast cruisers in V11 beta 2 and have fun raiding slower, older warships. You'll see a huge advantage bestowed by the fast cruisers' powerful main beams and high maneuverability that the Arbiters don't have. |
