Has any consideration been given to the implementation of some sort of strikecraft that has solely energy-type weapons systems? Perhaps some sort of variant of the Kushan attack corvette. Maybe with a large bore centerline turret, four small bore pulsar turrets and a Hiigaran LDS-type system. I was thinking that maybe it could fill an interdiction/light assault role. I feel like the Hiigarans are sub-par in the strikecraft department. |

Thus the Hiigarans get the best stuff in the strikecraft arena in v7. The craft you propose is the Lavi assault frigate. She has main armament of 4-6 ICAs, 2-4 PIC87 or PC40 not including secondary super-rapid autocannons and missiles. The other Hiigaran fighters too are almost exclusively armed with directed energy or plasma weaponry now, along with the new nuclear tipped SRAM. |

The sort of craft im talking about is has no other type of weapons system. No secondary missles or auto-cannons. I'm curious as to that would play out. I have no idea as to the the space required for the various weapons systems, but my rationale was that by removing all the ammunition storage it would create room for more firepower. I realize that the power requirements would be larger, but it's not to difficult to accomodate those. Perhaps by creating a craft with a massive energy duct down the centerline from which all the energy wepons feed. Then the bulk of the wepons systems could be housed in external turrets. The energy could then be ported out through maneuvering port (maybe something similar to the ducts on the old Harriers) providing greater maneuverability. |

Scratch that - such weapon configurations can be fun to experiment. The Avenger in v7.0 is armed with seven forward firing ion cannons - try that out. There are pros and cons to such a loadout. |
